My pops had friends who used to work security at the Great Western Forum during the Primetime Lakers years of the 80s. It's for sure real. I am not a player. But, in 2000 the NBA All-Star Game in Oakland I found out what was up. I was flying from LA to San Francisco to go the the game. Pre 9/11 planes would fly near empty a lot. I was on a 747 and it was very empty so we could sit anywhere. I went to the 2nd floor Business Class area. I was 6'2 about 185 pounds, bald and a brotha. This was 2000 and I'm in my late 20s. Wearing all black with some gold neckwear and such. A couple of phat sistas rolled up on me and sat with me. There were many other seats available but they sat with me. They did not waste time asking me if I was a ball player. I of course said YES. That was all they needed. The questions came next: who do play for? What kind of car do you drive? Where are you staying? The flight is not a long flight so we landed and they hung with me through baggage claim. The crazy thing was, they said they didn't have a hotel room. I don't know if that was actually true. But they asked me if they could stay with me. It was tempting but I was happily married. In hindsight my btch-azz wife cheated on me years later so I definitely regret not taking these two up on their offer. I was staying at the same hotel as the players, the Ritz Carlton San Francisco. I did see them in the hotel lobby with hundreds of other groupies trying to get on the elevators with any tall black man that walked in the lobby. Plenty of actual players hooked up. I went to the NBA All-Star Player's Ball and saw even more girls get let in by players who told the bouncers to let them in. I went to a party at some mansion the day before the game and it was wall to wall NBA players, NFL players and entertainers and a pool full of naked chicks. I went to the next two NBA All-Star Games but that was the craziest by far.. Philly and DC were nuts, but I did not have the access I had in CA.

I know a few retired players, some super stars, most were bench-warmers. The quality of glam babes these dudes got in the 90's & 00's pales in comparison to the players now. My boys told me any given night they could score 2-3 babes after a game. But in the offseason, NOTHING! Now with social media, these chicks flood the players DM non-stop... and the blackmail is outta control for sure.
