It’s an age-old story - leaving the comfort of a place that taught you who you were, how to feel, how to live, how to love, in order to make a new home in the arms of uncertainty. Now you hope to plant your roots into new beginnings while still nurturing the ends that fortified your existence. But then, as we all must do, you return. Nobody waited, nothing is left for you, no signs remain signifying that you were ever here, and yet you haven’t even begun to grasp your life amongst unfamiliarity. You’re reminded that you’re merely a guest in both worlds always destined to be ephemeral. Never did here or there ever belong to you.
In slowing and reverbing this track, I found the meaning to change drastically for me. What started as a sad story of a love that could not withstand the test of distance transformed into something more intimate and tragic- the loss of the feeling of home. Safety, warmth, contentment all quickly become abstract and possibly forever intangible. So here I am, remaining afloat between two realms- one that was once strong and now withering, and one that never had the chance to flourish.

This song has a special place in my heart. I was born and brought up in a Catholic family in Texas and my boyfriend was born and brought up in a strict Hindu family back in India. My parents are separated yesterday I met my father after almost 8 years He couldn't even look me in the eyes , I pretended I was totally fine I just sat with him for 30 minutes only and we didn't talk to each other about all these lost years he just talked to his brother and mother my mother met him later While bidding him goodbye i knew he wanted to hug me but he couldn't neither could I , we didn't even do our signature handshake we used to do when I was a kid , my brother later met him hugged him , did the handshake too But I couldn't , I can't bring myself to It just hurts soooo much , I couldn't even cry about it I'm writing it here cuz only strangers are here and I don't really want anyone near me know what I'm feeling like This song just refreshed all the memories It just opened a wound I guess
