This is phenomenal data for a Version 1 product. shock and fork companies need to sell a line or products with this integrated. would love to see what shock wiz says after a bike is setup with DA, more for curiosity reasons. If someone from Motion instruments reads this, better organize the data then send it to the cloud, throw a deep learning and AI engine at it to extract ride characteristics data per trail. Over time you will have commercialized simulator data. this along side brake and steering data will completely evolve the bike trainer industry. I'd bet that your key engineer either worked in a autonomous vehicle team or is very close to someone who does, because this is the exact type of data we collect for HILS and SILS.

Zoubs it’s in plan. But the errors arise when people put in their settings. Also damper changes affect the herd data. But for individuals who want to see trending of their bike stats, this would be a good use case. Also detecting when you need seals and oil based on data would be another use case. Most bikes have a lot of potential left on the table with poor tunes. Worked with a rider today who was suffering go on his bike only to discover he had his rebound almost all the way closed, did some quick changes and he was ecstatic. He ripped after the changes. He didn’t have our system on his bike but it was clear to me he had another 30% of easy gains to be had...

Brilliant product! I love learning about suspension. By doing so I also learn about myself as a rider. I’m an old injured recreational rider now so value of this product is less than if I was a burgeoning youth with ambitious race desire and a long upward progression of abilities and skills ahead of me. Still one day, I think I will eventually purchase your system. Thank you for a valuable review of the system Vital!

Does motion instruments provide some recommended numbers for stuff like shaft speeds on compression and rebound? It seems you could end up with a setup that has a balanced but inefficient setup front and back without knowing what numbers to aim for?
@charlestelesco15674 жыл бұрын
I second this, when mentioning your rebound speed is there an "ideal" shaft speed MI recommends?
@nicoofner854 жыл бұрын
They have a document on their website with info about that. I guess he didn't see that one.
@robprzy4 жыл бұрын
This ends up being rider specific. Greg get's up to 7 m/s on his fork. But I doubt most mortals would ever see that. A novice rider may see only 3 m/s on compression. What we've found is fix what's obviously broken and move forward. Things we see broken all the time are too many tokens, too much air, too much damping and combinations of all the above. So the way Lee breaks down this video is the process we recommend. We do have some blogs on this as well as a user guide. The key takeaway, we are quantifying your bike interacting with the ground.
@jakewhitehouse52044 жыл бұрын
@@robprzy thanks for this! I guess my point is that something might be off with the finer details of setup but without specifically knowing what to look for it might be hard to find and correct, so giving a bracket of recommended shaft speeds for different riding styles and disciplines would be a great way to troubleshoot quickly :)

Is this a custom made colourway? Looks cool!
@Thojouno4 жыл бұрын
Using the ShockWiz seems much simpler to operate, it just tells you whether you need tokens and to inc, dcr the compression and rebound. I do like the fact the MIDA has front and rear sensors to help balance out the bike
@robprzy4 жыл бұрын
Shockwiz exists and if it works for you, keep using it. What it doesn't do is figure out balance and you can't use it on coil shocks and forks. There is a market for shockwiz and we specifically do not address that market.
@Chuckolicious4 жыл бұрын
@@robprzy I've got a SW and it really did do the job for me. Though I'm a total nerd and the MI just calls to me. I assume y'all are researching ways to slim it down, both physically and in price? And one more question, how about tire pressure/inserts, etc? I ended up with Vittoria Airliners and the effect on perceived small bump was remarkable. Now with two stage inserts, it seems that the market is waking up to the real effect that area between the dirt and your rims has on the overall feel of the bike. Of course you then get into the potential for it to work against your actual suspension if not dealt with properly.
@robprzy4 жыл бұрын
@@Chuckolicious Check out the Cushcore website, we quantified the affect of their inserts with respect to suspension movement. If you can feel it, it can be quantified with data.

Im still prefering my ShockWiz, its more compact and easyer to use. For this price, it looks way to cluttery compared to the Wiz, but i think if the unit would be much cheaper it could be a alternative.
@RiderP4114 жыл бұрын
I don't think these two are in the same category, this provides way more comprehensive data it's not even comparable. The price is bit out of touch though, if available, for the same price I'd rather rent this for a week than purchase shockwiz.
@robertprzykucki19284 жыл бұрын
彭定康 This is what we thought for most people, don’t buy, just rent. As you get faster, you will want to further tune your suspension to support you.
@semiconductorDeviceP4 жыл бұрын
I know he used air but there was a push coil shock in the background that the ShockWiz is useless for tuning.

@FaisalKhan-om7en4 жыл бұрын
You tune the bike by getting a new bike. Jk you have to Google the shock name and there should be some videos
@richardhayter39194 жыл бұрын
Dude, you are checking and setting rebound speed without any sprung mass on board ? Surely this does nothing more than confirming that two or more riders of different weights (the sprung mass) will need different rebound settings as their weights will effect the rebound speed when onboard, in effect if I was there doing what you have just done by manually compressing the bike into its travel as you have done it would have a totally different outcome when I'm on the bike as I weigh a shed load more than you do !

From our perspective (MI), this = true. Most people don’t ride enough and should never look at this product, rent or buy. Fir the ones who take riding seriously, this is for them. We have an off road moto and track street bike kits coming soon too.
