I’m impressed how easy that looks. I’m also impressed you have an older x738 with only 112hours man. I knew it couldn’t be to high when I still seen the whiskers on those tires. lol. That was a find! Grats.

First time doing it, and yea it wasn't too bad. Just make sure you do a better job than I did at catching the oil haha. Thanks! I am excited about it

Just bought a brand new x738 Very good informative video on maintenance I was wondering how to change oil That tube is handy

Nice, glad you were able to pick one up! That drain is a nice addition to keep things clean...even though I still managed to spill my hydraulic oil everywhere haha

Really well done video. Thanks for the detailed shots and your candid commentary. Going to do this same servicing on my x738 because the John Deere dealer near me can’t pick up my tractor for 2 weeks, and then at least more two weeks before I get to the front of the line for the servicing. Sort of ridiculous.

Thanks you, and good luck with yours! Wow, that's a long wait time for just basic maintenance.

Awesome video friend! At 100 some hours with no trans oil I would of had second thoughts on buying so hope you got lucky. There is a fuel pressure relief screw to vent before changing the fuel filter. You definitely took the fear of doing this job out! Thanks

It wasn't empty just low, but no issues so far! Thanks for the heads up on the fuel vent. Glad my video helped, good luck with yours!

I'm picking up a x730 this weekend, and will be doing this same kit. But since mine is 2wd, I'm assuming there is no hydraulic fluid in the front axle? I want to get everything done now, so I can go forward knowing everything is fresh.
@cheesingarage Жыл бұрын
Hm...I am not sure if you would have hydraulic fluid in the from axle or not. Let me know when you find out.

Do you know the size of the cap wrench you used for the hydraulic filter?
@cheesingarage15 күн бұрын
Not off hand sorry. I have a kit that has pretty much every size, I recommend one if you don't have one. Mine is similar to this - amzn.to/3W5mp1X

With that having aluminum heads, wouldn't it be a good idea to use some anti seize on those spark plugs?
@cheesingarage11 ай бұрын
Most spark plug manufactures I've seen recommend against using anti seize compounds because the plugs already come with an anti corrosion coating on them. I've never used anti seize on spark plugs before and I have never had an issue as long as they weren't over tightened when installed.

You did a great job I’m looking at buying a new x738 so it lets me know what maintenance I’d need to do Thanks

I see the hydro filter doesn’t come with the home maintenance kit, do you know what the correct part number is? Also, what’s the gap and torque specs on the spark plugs? Thanks for the great video!
@cheesingarage10 ай бұрын
Correct, I bought the hydro filter separate. The links to everything I used are in the description. I believe the torque on the spark plugs is 18ftlbs. Thanks for watching!

I just bought a 738 new with auto coupler. Mower rattles and makes noises. I think it's the part that holds the coupler in place. Does your mower deck rattle?
@cheesingarage5 ай бұрын
I cant say that I noticed any rattle from the mower deck other than the antiscalp wheels. Those get pretty noisy on mine

Is the transmission fluid shared with the axles?
@cheesingarage Жыл бұрын
My understanding is that the hydraulic oil is shared with the transmission, front and rear axle, and the lifting hydraulics (mow deck/blower/plow)

How does it cut compared to a zero turn?
@cheesingarage Жыл бұрын
I don't have any personal experience with zero turns, so I cant really give too much insight. I would think for just cutting grass, the zero turn would be better as that is all it is built for. I use this for mowing, snow blowing and towing a small trailer for yard work. For me, this is the better option but depending on what your looking for, that might not be the case.
