Nice job on the switcher. Its always exciting to work on a locomotive that you have not seen before. You always seem so confident, great job on it!

Another entertaining vid! And nice to see your locomotive collection growing, always interesting to see what you bring home from the shows! Also your videos keep me progressing on my on-going layout!

Just bought ($40 Cdn) one of these switchers in CN livery. It runs well and has two traction tires. Your video is a great help. I plan to add at least a silent DCC decoder. I have 3 $350+ sound equiped locos so I need a loco I can tinker with. Will also add Front /back leds and change to Kadee couplers as it has a lot of switching to do on my 12' x 16" shelf layout. Again thanks for manufacturer and guide to opening it up. Ray

If at first you don't succeed, pry, pry again.

Maybe I missed it in your video, but I didn't notice you put any lubricant on the motor bushings...just the smallest amount on those bushings can really help with the running quality of the locomotive..the bushings would be right where the shaft enters the motor, usually you can see them..

No, you're right, I missed that. I'll add a drip either side.

I had no doubt but what it would run after you got done. Great job.

RSO stands for the Serbian phrase "Radio Smetnje Otklonjene", or radio interference supressed - a standard which means the loco's electrical parts will not cause radio devices to perform in an undesired way. In the 70s, when radios and TVs with antennae were all around a household, this was an important deal. 😉 Also, the isolated wheel is not an original Mehano axle for those trucks, someone may have replaced it.

AHM's are little tanks. Always seems the coupler heights are alittle low. Kudos on the traction tires tho.

You are so right about the coupler heights. Seems like such a basic thing to get right.

@ScottRails thinking it was an Eastern Europe thing in the 70s(metric) modeling Merica imperial. Depending on the bodies can be a tad small. There(AHM)GP18 is really noticeable. 🚂🙋
