Anthony Mackie said Eminem came to him on set and asked if he'd be cool with him tweeking the info about his character in the script a little bit and then promptly Google'd Mackie and interspersed key points about his life (grew up in a big house, had two loving parents, etc.) into the rap. It has nothing to do with Mackie not being from Michigan, Em just mixed real [general] info about Mackie's life with the character he was playing. It took me 5 minutes to find the interview with Anthony Mackie, so it's not exactly hidden information.

I encourage anyone who doesn't know to read up about the filming of this scene. Eminem got to know Mackie on set and rewrote this rap to personally roast Mackie, not out of any kind of spite or to actually rag on him, but to get a legit reaction out of Mackie. Mackie got too shook to finish, it was legit, and he tried to get them to reshoot it so he could do his half of the battle but they decided not to because this reaction was way too good.
