One of the finest pieces of choreography til this day. Paula and Chita definitely pushed Shirley in these scenes to brilliant she definitely holds her own. It's also amazing seeing Beyonce paying respect to Mr. Fosse in her put a ring on it video. These 3 women were a class and each brilliantly chosen for their roles in this masterpiece ❤❤❤❤

Such a great staging of this fun musical. I’m glad that it is getting the recognition it deserves - the fosse dances are awesome. But also the performances are fantastic.

RIP Chita Rivera. This is the second greatest rooftop dance sequence ever filmed (the first being America from 1962's West Side Story, and I always thought Fosse was paying it a slight homage here) by three of the best dancers ever to grace Broadway. All but MacLaine are gone now, which makes me sad, but also grateful we still have their wonderful performances preserved in this clip. Chita was especially fab in this number. Que dios te bendiga, doña.

You try to keep a decently turned out leg during jumping and falling, and then you try to land on your toes and not your heel. Also, always a good plie (bending downwards when falling) helps 😊

Broadway meets Hollywood at it's best. When it goes from Hollywood to Broadway we suffer.
@bruzote9 ай бұрын
When Hollywood pretends its Broadway by having well-known stars sing, we also suffer. I remember listening to the soundtrack of the Camelot movie and wondering why parts of it sucked. It's because Broadway singers always excel, but not all Hollywood performers. Some have agents who leverage their star into a TV musical. Ugh!

LIke the greatest musical scenes in film, everything is superlative, sound, tune, lyrics, dancing, direction,acting, costume, and the rooftop setting. What did I leave out? Maybe if the rest of the film were as terrific as this, it would have become a movie staple like Sound of Music and Singin' in the Rain.

Why on Earth every time there are Hispanic/Latino characters singing in an American musical, the tune and dance are *Spanish?* It's like putting cowboys to dance Morris, or Ceili, or Highlands dance! Moreover, when the Spanish arrived to the Americas, Flamenco dance did not exist yet! How on Earth would Hispanic peoples have inherited it, if we became independent before that dance became popular in Spain? And... in Spain there are plenty of different popular/folkloric dances. Flamenco is just one of them.
