Our video from last week sucked, so we redid it. We dropped our very dense pure tungsten sphere onto various objects and destroyed them.

It’s pretty interesting that it hit the oobleck with enough force to make it shatter like that. In most videos the oobleck would break and become liquid and become solid when it hits the round or something. That just stayed solid

If you're having a hard time cleaning up oobleck, luckily it was cold, but a good way is to cover it with cornstarch, mix it in and it's not a liquid anymore you could just pick it up

3:10 The whole impact wasn't actually absorbed by the ball as you suspected, most of the force was actually lost when the wood block the clay ball was placed on rebounded into the air from the reaction forces. The ball likely would have exploded if that wood block was secured to the base, without the ability to fly off, more of the present forces would have acted through the point of impact (the clay ball) and resulted in the desired "burst".

I would really really like to see if you can heat up the ball as much as possible. HydraulicPressChannel did it with a tungsten cube and an acetylene torch which made it glow like a small sun! But you could go further: Hook it up to a seriously powerful welder, e.g. put it in between two graphite molds with a small dent and put a couple 100 amps through it. that would be dangerous as fuck but eh, thats your thing, amirite?

Iridium is basically as dense as osmium, within a tiny margin, and unlike osmium it doesn't produce toxic vapors when exposed to air, so it's a lot safer to have around. Still extremely expensive, though
