A very solid 35 second PB due to the discovery earlier this week that ladder storage, which was previously unused in speedruns, now lets you run around in midair, letting us save a good chunk of time in a few places across nearly all speedrun categories.

can someone explains the last quit to Main Menu, in front of the heir ?

It's a frame perfect trick to skip the cutscene that normally plays before you fight the heir. You press B to close the menu and then press A 1-2 frames later and it will activate the cutscene and quit to the main menu at the same time. The first time you visit the heir it will force you to fight her even if you have all the pages, but if you save and quit after starting the cutscene and load back in you can activate the true ending, which is what I'm taking advantage of in this run.

@@silentdestroyer6969 thanks for explaining it. So if I beat the game on ng+ run. Even if I skip nothing and progress through the game "as intended" the heir wants to fight you ? When on a new game (non ng+) you can have the true ending without any fight ??!

@@marc-antoinepelletier4039 if you get all the pages on a new game playthrough before ever going to the heir, she will still fight you but you can save and quit once the fight starts and then get the true ending when you go back in without having to actually ever defeat her

@@marc-antoinepelletier4039 the True Ending speedrun gets all the pages before going to the heir for the first time and then gets the true ending without ever needing to defeat her (I have a couple true ending runs on my channel if you're curious!)

Ladder Storage. If you swing the sword or stick and climb on a ladder at the same time, there's a small window where you can roll and run away. The game continues to think that you're on a ladder, so collision with ledges and certain objects gets disabled, meaning you can just run around in midair

And if you have the the crown, a slighty more stubborn way is to: ladder store, then continue to spam sword and sprint buttons till you do the special roll attack, while rolling stop spamming and hold the sprint button. Also side note: (didnt get far into the vid) while messing around found out when you receive damage it cancels out the ladder storage but doesn't teleport you back.

@@silentdestroyer6969 Hi, when I try to replicate this, my character glitches around and then nothing happens. It appears as if Im getting it for a sec then the game recognizes and fixes it. Am I doing it wrong or was it possibly patched?

@@andrewbarrett682 once you roll away from the ladder you have to keep holding the roll button so you can run away, snd you have to keep running otherwise it will send you back to the ladder. It isn't patched so it should still work but it can just be finicky sometimes

Wait, if the ng+ is forever escalating, how do you decide when it's fair to do a speedrun? You can just put a 99+ attack and kill everything in 1 hit, no?

Nah, attack caps out at level 8 so even if you upgrade past it (which you can) it won't do anything. The rest of the stats don't really matter for the speedrun besides magic which you generally want a lot of, and hp and defense which are best left at the lowest level

@@njmontano1625 because they can save time by dying and going back to the check point.

​@@njmontano1625Being close to 0 hp is beneficial because it allows you to die to come back shrines quickly and with the Orange Peril ring you deal more damage the less hp you have (though I'm unsure if it matters for this category)
