Great review. One thing that might have been skimmed over for fear of spoilers: It should be noted that the secrets go deep in this game. So if you're a fan of games like The Witness or Fez it might scratch a similar itch. It's my GOTY so far for that reason. :D

@@EasyAllies Interesting. I tried looking it up and all I could find pointed that it was a solo dev except for the publisher. Now that I looked at the credits, he does seem to have received external help for audio/music, level art and stuff like QA (tbf we still say Last of Us is a Naughty Dog game even when they have a ton of external partners), but even the Steam page just says his name as the developer. I'll edit my comment, but it's still relatively accurate if he took care of the entire design, programming, animation, character modeling, VFX, etc.

The weird thing about this game is that for all the talk about how “Zelda” it is, it is NOTHING like Zelda 1. (And only a tiny bit like Zelda 3) It’s much more more dark souls and, oddly, the cult classic Little Big Adventure (“Relentless” here in the USA)

Isn't it kinda stupid that Items are in a gibberish language and the menue is like 70% gibberish and 30 english? I dont know... not really feeling it with this game. Kinda tries to take elements from old zeldas and some soulsesque elements and mixes them into a kinda mediocre idea. But I guess if you are into it then go for it.

Damn, 5 years from an indie game only to make an 8.0 game is not great. Indies usually need to a 9.0+ to get that massive traction. Better luck next time Tunic devs!

What are you even talking about? In what world is 8 not great? Your assumption is also completely wrong and baseless. Stardew Valley didn't crack 90 and still sold 15M as of a couple months ago. Anyway, Tunic sitting at 87 open critic which is an amazing score, even more so for a solo dev. It's also on Game Pass so you know they already got a decent check.

@@tabulaluden why does everybody keep talking about one dev? That's a legend that fans are sticking to, final product is not a result of just one person working on it. And 8.0 score is actually overkill - it's just so happens that all game related media give indie games higher scores just because it's indie and must be supported.
