Sorry guys, but he's right. Notice, front wheel ain't spinning. The big red thing under/around it is locking it into place. You can see the force being exerted on the front shocks as they bounce with each gear shift. The reason for the chain, one on each side, is to keep the back wheel in the center of the cylinder spinning under it, instead of wobbling or fishtailing or anything

For everyone talking about the chains, nothing would happen if they broke except maybe a little wiggle side to side on the bike. Those chains are only holding the bike upright, not holding it back. There is also a cradle on the front tire to keep it from launching forward and an hydraulic clamp keeping the front tire in the cradle (or the front tire will be strapped in on some older dynos). The drum spinning under the rear tire also keeps it from launching forward by spinning with the tire. At the speed the rear tire is spinning, it would just spin like he's doing a break stand burnout if it came off the drum. Worst case scenario, the bike would move side to side on the drum if the chains broke. These dynos are actually very safe.

The people who think the rope is holding the bike from moving out, that folks gotta need some knowledge, the rope is just giving the balance to the bike to not turn left or right but just be in the middle. The spinner beneath the tire is the main cause, and the bike is not further moving.

The chains are for keeping the back tire centered in the cylinder in the floor. What's keeping the bike from going forward is the thing holding the front wheel. You can see this on the front shock absorbers as they lower because of the force applied on them.

Dyno machines are pretty amazing! That drum that the rear wheel spins on weighs over 500pds and can wear a tire out if you're not careful. Proper adjustment in the front wheel chalk is crucial for the rear wheel riding at the top of that drum while at full throttle. You can see that as he approaches top speed, the bike lunges forward and the rear wheel moves forward also and can make contact with the platform surface giving you bad readings on the dynamometer (dyno). Notice also that you never use the rear brake to slow the bike down and just allow that heavy drum to slow itself down (magnetically) and not the customers brakes.
