When setting the gains in this manner, the load should be connected to the output of the amplifier. The no-load voltage at the output is much higher than the voltage with load. The method used here will still yield clipped/saturated output signals to the woofers which you were initially trying to avoid. That aside, good video!

Thinking about the imbalance on the 4 channel, is it possible to have an inconstant read by alligator clip to loose grub screws? May be better off with a bare wire lead or probe tip actually clamped into the amp's terminals.
@BrainHurricanes5 жыл бұрын
Good point. I also think it would be a better readout with a dummy load connected, or if you don't mind the noise, with the actual speakers connected. Turn up the volume until clipping. Or just listen, if you're not deaf allready lol.

You should try cutting up old RCA female and male ends, strip down the insulation, separate positive and negative, and use that to connect to the RCA cables rather than the alligator clips. Its much faster and safer. I tune my system the same way with a oscilloscope, its the only true way to go, gives you more insight as to what is going on in your sound system than any other tool.

QUESTION: What does it mean when on the oscilloscope at the top of every wave my amp shows a thick crinkly snow-like cap as if a mountain top covered in snow?? I'm setting my gains before clipping and it constantly shows these snow-top mountain like waves. If I were to guess, it would equate to a dirty 8,000 RMS watts but before I jump to conclusions I thought I should ask the AMP PRO (that's you!). I have screenshots of it I could email you if helpful. THANK YOU!

Does it matter if the vehicle is running or not? Should it be running and producing enough amperage to feed the amp to get max output? I ask cause if your running off the battery at 12v, set everything to gat max clean power then later while your driving and amp getting 14v+ wouldn't cranking the volume to max cause issues?
@amorton947 жыл бұрын
NvTwist I don't think there would be an issue. You're just sending more power and it's tuned to be clean at less power, so it will be under tuned at full power
@NvTwist7 жыл бұрын
amorton94 I wonder because let's say the amp is dialed/tuned to & outputing 600w (voltage output measured) while @ 12v then after starting and running on alt @14v+ would the output remain at the previous voltage measurement/watts as before. I'd think the readings would be higher which means over driving speakers. I'm aware the difference wouldn't be enough to create any issues or damage the drivers. Just a thought I had and when you go to such lengths to perfect the system setup it could be worth a look or test. I'm not running my system Setup to perfection or competition but there are those that do which is why my questioning came up in my head. Maybe I'll test the theory myself one day but it's to damn hot in vegas during the summer so it'll have to wait till fall.

Okay, one thing he isn't mentioning in these videos is even though these amps are tunned so they don't clip, you can still overpower your subwoofer/speakers. You've gotta remember these systems are designed for comps. If you're cruising around just listening to music I doubt you'll be hitting 151db. Tune to find the clipping point of the amplifier then adjust the gain so you're getting the maximum rms voltage of your subwoofer/speaker. Use ohms law. I would also install a bass knob so you don't have to mess with your preamps. Just what one guy is thinging. But since EXO doesn't respond we don't know why he tunes amps the way he does.
@UltraCon796 жыл бұрын

Didn't you hear him say we got the SSA meter up on the dash.Your phones microphone is wimpy and can't measure accurately anything over 100 decibels. It's common sense that the phone mic is not strong enough. Haven't you ever seen a you tube video of a concert. The sound quality is always distorted because of the extreme SPL at a rock concert. It's just flapping all around while trying to record loud SPL. Perfectly fine for talking though which is what phones are really meant for, even the smart ones LoL.

@axey74764 жыл бұрын
With just 2 12's you shouldnt need an upgraded alternator, maybe try adding a farad capacitor or a deep cycle battery between the amp and cars batt.
@facetime91564 жыл бұрын
Keeping your battery charged will keep the load off alternator. That will keep you from upgrading and stressing it. Capacities are dangerous in my opinion. Mine didn’t work bad $40. Make sure you look at big 3. That will let you look at your engine plus you can add bigger wire ie big3. It will be easy to read about. You can check battery first if any corrosion. Oh and your grounding for subs. Multimeter will help that. Good luck plus see what others off of google have done with your car as far as upgrading

@@facetime9156 1000 rms per farad it works if you get a boss cap and do the numbers. I went from playing in the 12.6 range to 13.0 and up jamming harder. It don't stop dimming much or car electrical stuff. But when the amp needs its juice its the closest power provider. This means no power lost or drop for amp. Amps only tho. 4 12s w apmn audiopipe 1500s strapped and a 1000 watt amp for highs. 3 agm battery and 1 stock battery. Stock alt. 13.0 maxed....do the numbers.

Hey I'm new to all this, I've got a question. I have a amp that has a low pass and high pass switch what does that do?
@dylans47888 жыл бұрын
A low pass is like a crossover built into the amp, so low pass only allows the lower frequencies to only go out through the amp (if you're using the amp for subwoofers) and the high pass is for only letting higher frequencies above the bass and sub-bass frequencies go through, (if you're using your amp for mids and highs)

@DanielRichards6447 жыл бұрын
with the subs disconnected turn the volume up to the highest setting you want to be able to turn the volume to (if running on a headunit for the 4 channels instead of a dedicated amp this will be just below the volume level that introduces distortion, on Pioneer units that go to 62 volume I find this to occur somewhere in the 50's, but high 40's, like 46-48 is usually where I stop turning up the volume just from how loud it is on those units) once you start to hear distortion in the door speakers, just below that is your max safe volume, from there start with your amp gain all the way down, reconnect the subs, turn the volume up to that loudness level you determined was just below distortion and slowly raise your gain control until you hear the subs start to distort then back it off to just below that point, basically the same thing he does here with the o-scope just use your ears to listen for it.

I’m working on Two projects and I believe by watching your videos I may need a 4” Dayton woofer. I’ve made a box about 16” wide and 8”deep. I an using one of the small T116 boards that is 125 x 125 x125 for bass. I ended up putting two 6” and two 4” water proof with built in tweeters and a Bazooka 8” woofer in it. The speaker sounds good for what I made the box for, to be able to hear the TV over our hot tub but the bass just isn’t good enough. I’m on a tight budget and have to save all I can. I didn’t put a port in the box but was wondering if a 4” Dayton wouldn’t be better? That’s the first thing I need you advice on. The second thing is I want to put a tub style setup on my golf cart using the same board and maybe all Dayton speaker. 4”pipe isn’t as noticeable and I could use up to 4” speakers in it. Basically I want it to have good clear bass not destroyed but have enough to enjoy the sound while using it. Could you please give me suggestions on setup and the model Dayton speakers I need for each project? The end on the Bluetooth amp rms was surprisingly there but the speakers won’t so I added the two 4” speakers and wired them in series. That got them to sounding as good as you can expect but I think the 8” Bazooka is just not a quality speaker. And on the pipe just let me know how many and if the Daytons are what I need. My email address is goodale@shtc.net thank! If you could help me out. I’d really appreciate it! I had to get the tub and cart because of my health issues! I am alone most of the time and enjoy music! Thanks again!

you can actually set it by eye haha. turn the SS all the way up and play music that you know goes well bellow your port frequency. Play it at maximum safe volume and slowly turn the SS filter down, keeping an eye on the woofer. Stop when your subwoofer is still moving nicely but not excessive and uncontrollably, essentially not flopping around like a bag of dicks.

it is. Choose a selected frequency for subsonic, for example 25hz. Play a tone at 25hz. Turn the subsonic knob. Look for a significant drop the AC volt on the DMM/Scope. Then you know where you're at. Instead of playing ear-guessing-games.

you still clip on: high transient kicks in music, bass that is at a higher db in the song than the test tone you used, clipping indicator will show you while playing, but limiter is your best bet , sound.westhost.com/project53.htm

If each amp has phase adjust should make sure they are in phase. I saw barevids (I think) and a guy gained another dB from just phase matching.

im using radio. when i play a video on my iphone there is no lag between the normal speakers. just the sub. the lag is only noticeable with the sub thats it.

Do you use 40 hrtz at 0db ? Or -5 or -10 db ?
@eg6b18a17 жыл бұрын
I tend to use -5 db gives you more bump and some head room
@FSXgta7 жыл бұрын
-5 for bass boosted/decaf, stuff with super heavy bass... -10 if you only listen to radio and normal music

Old video but could it be that he had the headunit balanced to right side that caused the voltage drop?
