I've raced tunnels for over 30 years. I hold multiple current world records, and have won at the national and world level. Tunnels are kind of my thing. The roll over in the turn is mainly from the prop paddling accross the water. I've never been one to worry much about "CG". Moving weight is generraly the last thing in the fine tune of setup. My guess is the motor is too high. The best way to know is to use a slotted board at the back. What your looking for is the center of the prop shaft in relation to the rear sponsons of the boat. Also the depth of the sponsons plays a role. tunnels wiht real shallow sponsons can't run the motor very high. Regardless I would lower the motor about an 1/8 inch, until your rollover issue goes away. The other thing is to stay on power as much as you can. power holds the back end in turns. if your on throttle and the boat is spinning out its 100% motor height as the main issue.
thats a bad ass boat big b.HAPPY FATHERS DAY brother

You have a small narrow boat with a very high center of gravity. With the torque of the motor and speed you are trying to get that heavy motor up in the air is a killer for handling. Not a whole lot you can do with what you have to make it great, just keep on playing to find a crutch to make it acceptable.

I totally feel the "frustration" trying and trying (like my twin) but you got some base setup from were you can work on or go back to. I love that thing because off the looks. Wouldn't buy it because its not there to buy, or stong enough to do the things we normally do with our boats, but you almost have to like that little boat... Going for some testing again, its beautiful weather last days so trying to get lot of time on the water trying to adjust my damn boat to handle normally. Happy fathers day...

That's what I though, boat not heavy enough to keep the fin on the lower unit in the water. I don't have this problem with my tuned Wave Master as it have 2600 grams with oldschool brushed setup. Also when you lowering the engine at the end, the sound is exactly the same as on mine.....it's like "leaking soda stream machine". It's bubbling a litlle bit👍Wave Master have almost the same flex in the hull as yours, it's also ABS boat. But as I moddified battery box (cut out the old one), during the proces I put foam inside complete hull. It's adding floatation and reinforcing the plastic a litlle bit as well.

I'm sure you know by now, but that model came with a turn fin mounted inside the left sponson and they were made to turn left mostly. This was hobby grade back in the late 80's, glass boats were super heavy back then and not electric! You have this running faster than we ever went back in the day, so nice job. another thing I wonder about it the height of the Kyo outboard. it is larger and heavier than the MRP outboard. I'd love to see a hyperdrive or whatever the modern electric K&B drives are that are made of plastic. I still have my Bud Light Tunnel, autographed by "the" Man himself Bill Seebold #7. Mike is his son and he raced #11.

Hey big B the newer tunnel.hull have stumble blocks in the tunnel towards the bow I just learned that they are there to help with the turning. Also learned about the old K&b auto trim . It would induce positive angle in a turn to keep the boat from diving in the turns.
@mikesrcgarage Жыл бұрын
Thrust angle of the prop along with cg can do a lot when tuning. A turning fin is going to change everything as well. Nice R&D session!

That boat is a challenging little bugger for certain! Been closely following along with all of the suggestions and comments. I've been considering the weight of the motor in those turns being the main culprit for flipping it, but I'm a noob to RC boating and would not try to suggest that I know anything. You are an excellent craftsman and have done great work on setting up that outboard in my opinion. On another matter, what servo would you recommend as an upgrade for the sonic wake v2?
