You are a legend. This didn’t make any sense until you mentioned bowling. My parents were ten pin league bowlers forever and I finally understood why my counts were never correct. I wasn’t allowing for gutters to join into. Thank you for another great tutorial

Just received my full set of Tunisian hooks which I ordered from eBay so I went to my favourite man, Mikey, as I wanted to do entrelac. He just taught me something I did not know, but know makes perfect sense, you always go up 2 sizes compared to what the yarn label says. It's like chalk and cheese, now it feels very soft, not that stiffer feel I always have had doing this type of hooking! Thanks Mikey xox

By the way, I just wanted to mention that your using a large hook and bulky yarn for demonstrations made me think that when someone is learning these stitches, it's also a good way to practice the stitch when first learning it. I tried it while learning the Tunisian knit stitch and it helped SO MUCH! Thank you, Mikey!

Thank you so much for demystifying entrelac for me! I've been crocheting for 40+ years and have tried entrelac too many tines to count, unsuccessfully I might add! Your bowling analogy helped immensely as did your clear, concise instructions. I am forever grateful!

Mikey, I wish you would also teach how to do this with self-striping yarn. You mention the option of not finishing off on the first block if not changing colors, but you don't tell us what to do with that final unfinished row. On your other tutorial (the one that follows the trip around the world pattern) you feature a beautiful quilt-like tunisian crochet blanket, and again, the instructions call for "finishing off" and changing yarns after each round. Otherwise, thanks.

May I make a note, Mikey? You actually have 6 pins in your diagram, not 5. 1 pin + 2 pins = 3 pins + 3 pins = 6 pins. 😄

I just began learning entrelac, but I am confused about one thing. In this video when attaching the row to the side of the previous block, you are stitching two together all the way across, but in the other entrelac video you stitch one, then two... two ... two etc to the other side (like the center square on this video). What is the reason for the difference in the pattern?

You should be able to substitute Tunisian knit stitch for the simple stitch. Maybe use an even larger hook since the knit stitch is so thick (unless that's what you're going for) :-)

Mikey ... how can I straighten my edges on Tunisian blanket? Please any help will be greatly appreciated And can I make a blanket in 25 stitches instead of 7?
@TheCrochetCrowd
@TheCrochetCrowd 6 жыл бұрын
We have a border tutorial for the tunisian edging here on our channel. and yes, you can do any combination of sts for each square. If you prefer sts across, you will have 23 rows. Just like it's 7 across, you have 5 rows. So whatever the amount of sts across, subtract two and that gives you the rows for each box.

If I am doing a blanket 6 bars by 6 rows but I accidentally dropped one bar so now its 6 rows high but instead only 5 bars wide, can that be hidden in the next round? I didnt realize it and now the last two rounds have squares that are 5 bars wide but 6 rows high vs 6 bars wide and 6 rows high. X|=|=|=|=|=|= X|=|=|=|=|=|= X|=|=|=|=|=|= X|=|=|=|=|=|= X|=|=|=|=|=|= X|=|=|=|=|=|= Instead I made X|=|=|=|=|= X|=|=|=|=|= X|=|=|=|=|= X|=|=|=|=|= X|=|=|=|=|= X|=|=|=|=|= If this doesnt make sense I'm sorry. Thanks for rhe video and help.
@TheCrochetCrowd

Your going to have 7 all together. The loop already on the hook then you will pull up six more loops. So when he mentions the gutter it's the first corner Stitch then five regular stitches then the next gutter which is you attaching it to the next block.
