Biking Tunnel Hill State Trail: Southern Illinois (Shawnee National Forest)

Take a ride with us on the Tunnel Hill State Trail! The Tunnel Hill State TraIl is a day-use traIl that spans 55 miles between Karnak and Eldorado in Southern Illinois. The southern section of the traIl is comprIsed of bottomland woods, ponds, streams, and marshes, includIng the cypress-tupelo swamps. The northern sectIon crosses streams, rocky ravines, wooded bluffs, as well as the hIlls of the Shawnee National Forest and flat terrains of surrounding farmlands. Enjoy!

@@Iliketoadventure I crossed it while hiking the River 2 River Trail. I have also seen it in Harrisburg and Vienna. I may bring my bike next time I'm in the area and ride it.

@@montegomm I’ve been curious about the River 2 River Trail for a while now. That’s so cool you hiked it! How was your experience? First time? How long is the trail and how many days did it take to complete? Did you go solo? Do you have all your food/water with you or are there opportunities along the route to resupply? Must have seen lots of wildlife? I have so many questions haha!
