Me and Fabio headed up for a quick look around.
We soon found some tunnels that led to a nearby fort.

I shot this video in cinematic 24fps and it did come out a bit jerky. Sticking to 30fps from now on.
*Stay tuned for next week when we explore Loe Bar

When Crownhill Fort was built the two leats that carried the water supply from Dartmoor to Plymouth and Devonport had to be covered over. The first tunnel was the Devonport Leat. The tunnel at right angles with the gate at the end crosses the Plymouth Leat and leads to the Countermining Gallery on the outside of the ditch around the fort. The last time I went in there the gate wasn't there and I could get to it down the steps from the path around the ditch.

Yeah, might be all bricked back up again though? Worth a try, there are loads of tunnels in the woods

I'll go on the hunt for an entrance, want to try the woodland Fort at West park too, I drive past both of these most days. I may get more access to Efford fort as I'll be doing some work up there in the grounds so I'll be looking for an entrance there. So much hidden history in this city that nobody realises.

If you carried on along the trenches as you left the tunnels there’s some shorter tunnels half buried

Pretty sure it was Crownhill Fort, we stopped off on the way home and had 30 minutes to have a quick poke around. Interesting place!
