The world is a much better place for having Tunng in it. I love Tunng's quirky, beautiful and sometimes absurd and dark & twisted songs/lyrics plus their fabulous mix of trad and unconventional sounds, using a mix of electronic/electric & acoustic instrumentation. I love that they are leftfield, left of centre out of phase with anything mainstream while still being able to appropriate and assimilate the, experimental, avant-garde and pop sensibilities. It's as close to musical genius as one would hope for. I'm amazed that they haven't become a much more famous or "bigger" band (probably a little too odd for the mainstream, and thank goodness for that ;-) For me (and no doubt other fans) they are Giants. Giants that somehow manage to hide in the shadows, under your bed, high in the trees or in the poppy fields of the myths and legends of forgotten lore. Can't wait for the new album to arrive.
