Miten hieno haastattelu! Tykkäsin kovasti, kun oli aitoa ja spontaani, kuin ”kotosella”. Itsekin hain kuppi kahvia, että sain jaettua se fiillista! Kuolema teki minusta taitelija” on niin kaunis biisin, että on ollut aikanaan minulle motivaatiota opiskella suomen kieltä. Kun olin Kuopion yliopistossa (v2005), näin unta, missä kuulin kauniin selloa ja kontrobasson musiikkia, jonka jälkeen tuli pako mieltä säveltää musiikkia, etten unohtu niitä kauniita ”melodioita”, jotka syntyivät mielessä. Itse en ole vielä uskaltanut jakaa se musiikki muiden ihmisten kanssa, mutta jonakin päivänä löydän siihen rohkeutta (ja aikaa)! Kiitos Tuomas, kun luot kauneutta ja kiitos kun sinun musiikki tuo mielen rauhaa! Kiitos haastattelijallekin!

Puhutpa hyvin suomea! Hauskaa, että tiedät "kotosella"-sanan. Yritin kerran selittää sen suomen kielen opiskelijalle, mutta se oli vaikeaa. :D

Wow, what a fantastic interview. So down to Earth 🤗 can't wait to read his books! It is very long interview, so making subs would be a lot of work for nothing, since people almost never accept subs made by other people I'll just write some things I still remember from it: They talk a lot about Kitee, and his old schools that enabled them to engage in music from young age. Also about how Tuomas wishes that everyone would play in a band growing up, since not only does it bring so much joy, it also teaches teamwork skills and humility (ie. not trying to always be center of attention) They talk fondly about funny Finnish band the Eläkeläiset, and how the 2 landmarks of making it in Finland, is being covered by the Eläkeläiset and being featured in Donald Duck comic (which has been iconic in Finland for the longest time, Mickey has never been popular in Finland) Then he mentioned he is actually writing fiction novels and has a publisher for them. Like adult geared low scifi/fantasy in the style of Good Omens from Neil Gaiman He also mentioned he thinks after traveling alot, he has realized even more what an amazing place his hometown Kitee is, and he has everything he needs there, and is the best place in the World for him The covid-19 has given them a lot of unexpected time, and he and his wife took out a sheet of paper, and wrote down all the stuff they had been intending to do for the last 10 years, but never had enough time for it. Then started going thorough that list. He also started writing the next album already, one year earlier than intended. And while all the gigs have been postponed, they haven't had to cancel any gigs yet. Their first gig will be in October in China, if things stay the same, atm. They are getting signals from there that everything is atm. Looking good to go then, but you never know. That is the important parts I remember, hope this helps at least a little

One important bit of info was also that they are planning to post a virtual gig once Floor and Troy can travel to Finland.

Also, he says that a band is not and should not be bound to any genre. He refers to the feedback received for the new album (Human Nature) and says the feedback has been even surprisingly contradictory, for example because of the classical music found on CD2. The critics have said that it is not NW at all. But he says that when six people gather to make the music they all want to make, then it is exactly them. - He also mentions that he makes all demos on the Kronos sequencer, without using a computer. He doesn't like new technology that much; a method that he has learned once is good for him as long as possible. He says that he also plays the guitar parts (to the small extent he can play that instrument) to the demo before presenting the demo to the band members. - Also mentioned Troy breaking some ribs on their band camp at the time of recording EFMB, because Troy fell off a water scooter, and that for some time after that Troy could not play the bagpipe at all, or even sing. This time around (= last year's band camp) they didn't bring a water scooter there in the first place.
