I built the sea hurricane varient of this, and so it had the same bug as you mentioned. It does take a lot of work, especially with the detail of the ribs on the fuselage but if you can get past that its a really nice kit

I just built that kit and the real bug is that the wing assembly hits the bottom of the cockpit floor. I moved the cockpit assembly up a little and thinned the floor. There is another bug where the front edge of the left wing abuts the fuselage. I filled with it multiple applications of thin putty and sanded.

Thank you for your more accurate description about the both bugs, very useful...

At the risk of seeming picky, I'm afraid that the access door on the starboard side is not hinged, it is either in or out.

Nice job on the Hurricane and paying tribute to it's pilot. Like the pit, and the PE flap set. The painting and weathering is incredible. The markings came out perfect, looks like Montex will be the way to go for that complete effect. Great job! Congrats! To let you know I did try this kit, {Tamiya box} I wasn't at all successful. So an extra pat on the back to you!

Lovely model of a great aircraft. Just a couple of small points though. The video seems to show you putting a red navigation !light on the starboard wingtip. It should be green as red is only used on the port side. The cockpit hatch was only for escape and wasn't hinged so it was either c!osed or not on ghe aircraft. On the ground, the flaps were always closed unless the aircraft was either taking off, landing, or undergoing maintenance on the flaps.

Great model. Nice result. Here's a good tip : On both the Spitfire and Hurricane, the flaps (the brass parts on your model) are either fully down or fully up. There is no intermediate position !! Gluing them at an angle like you did, is therefor not realistic. They are only lowered during landing, and even before the airplane stood still, they were retracted again, to prevent damage. So building a model with flaps down, means you are representing a Hurricane seconds before landing.

There was no access door on a hinge, "that was an emergency escape hatch that was released and flew off when the canopy was open to let the pilot out of a burning plane. Common misunderstanding while building this plane. The pilot climbed in and out through the top. Anyway, the rest is nicely built.

hey, very good build indeed. Just a little thing: the door should not be opened, as it is an emergency exit only... Not like the spit... i did the same mistake :) good model anyway cheers

No, no, no! Here we go again with the escape door of the hurricane hanging down by the side of the cockpit like on a Spitfire. That door was NEVER opened like that...in fact, it wasnt even hinged! It had a handle on the inside that when turned released the whole hatch so the pilot could escape in case of an emergency. Of cause, the canopy would have to be fully opened or jettisoned for this to be possible. Otherwise a really good build! 😊

pilot steve I’m at the same stage as you😀 I bought some cheap kits on eBay to practise but I found them a pain in the arse. Much filling and sanding! I’ve learnt to buy decent kits from tamiya or eduard. Anyway, I’m still practising with my new airbrush and it’s getting there. Don’t give up mate👍

@@PeteCourtier I just picked up a cheap Tamiya 1/48 F4 Phantom from a local hobby shop. And it's turning into a disaster I watched so many KZbin videos on how to shade and weather them I can't figure it out. I used to do only 1/32 scale because they were bigger than the parts were easier to handle but I'm not dropping coin on bigger models if I can't master a small one

Hi!, I started to build model being so young too, I p for long time and I recovered this hobby when my chidren was born, few years ago. My tip is: don’t buy so cheap or old models because usually they are plenty of bugs and level of detail so often is very low….It’s better buy a medium price one and be patient 😊. Good luck and don’t get discourage!

pilot steve tbh my favourite build has been a 1/72 academy p51c. Apart from the decals it was great fun. 1/72 is a lot cheaper. I have a 1/48 tamiya mosquito in the stash which I keep putting back as I want more practice. Have you tried any armour?
