Depends what year your 80 is and how the fuel system plumbing is done. The second “return” line is the feed from the second tank. The secondary tank pumps to main tank and then the main tank feeds the engine much like the patrol.

It's looking sweeet!. ❤ Hitting the "Sub-Tank" button on the dash to transfer fuel from the sub-tank into the main tank, is the factory setup of my '96 80 Series petrol (1FZ-FE). Wasn't your 80 originally a petrol? If so, shouldn't it have worked that way from factory? Or where pre-'94 petrol models worked like the diesel models (where the engine can draw fuel directly from either tanks - controlled by a switch/button)?

Heads up that radiator pipe is butchered (mig spot welded potential pin hole leaks all over it (may not see them now but as you have hot flowing fluid through it for a few hours that 1.6 SS will expand testing the spot welds. Also the stainless is completely cooked anything past salmon colour is screwed will rust out in no time, if your going to tour this car I’d be 100% finding someone to redo it that can actually tig weld and tig brush after to ensure you have no issues of dumping coolant out on the trails
@TylerThompson907 ай бұрын
Those clips was it only tacked together while he was making it. It definitely doesn't look like that
@bobwhatshisname21617 ай бұрын
I'd be interested in how you can weld ss tig and only discolour the ss to salmon ( red ) colour and get full penetration. Please let me know.
@Aidensmith17 ай бұрын
@@bobwhatshisname2161very very easily its called shielding gas. Correct flow, travel speed, cup choice, filler wire and angle of tungsten grind. These aspects all play a key role in obtaining a weld that isnt effected by oxides in the weld pool and or atmosphere internal and external depending on back purge (personly id run a purge as i wouldnt want anti freeze eating at the back of a sugared weld). As for penetration its 1.6mm material thickness. Most tig welder that know what they are talking about will tell you there is no trouble getting pen on that 😂
@bobwhatshisname21617 ай бұрын
@@Aidensmith1 I have never seen a weld on stainless that has not blued from welding. It is a byproduct from the heat and that is why you use pickling paste to clean the welds. I have yet to see this done cause in my 30 years of welding I have not seen it done.
@Aidensmith17 ай бұрын
Really? I dont think you have done much sanitary nor oil/ gas tig welding then? Pretty standard practice iv only been doing this 15 odd years. Correct filler size and feed rate, gas coverage (cup to match) and for this application itself id go for pulse that would keep a fair amount of heat out of the part. That put together with good back purge and good travel speed should have it a nice glossy gold at most. Google stainless colour chart, level 1/2/3 acceptable what your talking about is a straight up fail 😂... best of luck 👍 remember practice makes perfect

Albeit I gotta say you guys have done a stall next level job. I just can't help thinkin this is an expensive can of worms with too many mods to be an ethical remote off road vehicle. True I'm a Toyota man through and through, I would have enjoyed the same design and inspiration put into a new 1HZ FTE motor rebuild with a VDJ gearbox of the later model with the longer 5th gear. That would make for an unstoppable 80 series with parts readily available. But cracka job anyway.

Sick episode, great work boys as usual.. But diff breathers, really...! do the Mall car parks gutters! get flooded that deep in Australia?🤣 I jest Demi, don't kill me pse! Once Burto hands it back to Demi, ya can send Burto to NZ and work on a real "80", 1HD-T"..! Turbo Diesel.. 5spd MT / 12v a mans engine!" mechanical baby! no Electronic shit, no doof doof lights and whips! or 24valve BS, or 1000Hp paper weights! She might not look like a garage queen but has it where it counts and bush rubbing is 4wding! Just needs good servicing, no repairs cause its TD 12v baby! Though some more Superior bolt on's wouldn't hurt either, I got some shocks to install, maybe springs? Emissions, common rail issues, PCVs and EGRs 🤣Save the planet in one hand destroy it with 2 others! fn politicians! Idiots. I do love the RaceWerks stuff though, good work lads! I'm not sure though who wins the most expensive paper weight 80 in Australia, you guys or Sam Young, seeing Demi hard wheel harder than Tyler all these years and Sam Young! I'm thinking SamYoung edges it! and Demi will get hers proper dirty, no beach hops! I hope this time it actually makes it off the Black Top to the dirt! Maybe get her a cheap Edge or Yaris for a daily city driver! 😝 As much as I love big rigs, they shouldn't be daily's in the city, its not safe out there! More cowboys and cowgirls and weetbix license drivers in the city these days than on the Ranch or Farm Stations, I fear for the FB 80! ps FB = (Franken Barra) BTW as promised free beer! of his choice, in NZ! No fake import crap! and best Burgers day and night, I do them multiple ways so feels like a different meal every day, maybe even take him 4wheeling Kiwi style, plenty of GQs here to, but once he's been in a real 80 he might be converted, I'll get the stretcher and pull out my 20year old sleeping bag, might even wash it for him, have a heater in the garage and tools and 10mm for days, should be right at home 😛
