6 months ago i had turbo failure...i thought I should change or repair it but in the end i figured out that the plastic pipes ending on that part the exactly same you change in this video was damaged and lose air so the vacuum didn't worked properly so the turbo didn't worked either..thanks for the video and the informations you shared

The clip on the vacuum you replaced with a jubilee is designed to be circular pressure when tightening. A jubilee doesn’t tighten fully circular. You May have issues drawing in air. 👍🏻

Nice video. I've just replaced my hoses for the BCV. Could you tell me does the BCV pulsate with the engine running? If so is it a steady pulse? Told its supposed to but mine does sometimes and not others. Thanks.
@PrimalNomad4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The bcv would pulsate under load as the solenoid would be working opening & close with the vaccum. I don't think this does happen fully unless the turbo is spooling though so might indicate why on idle there is less movement.

I personally find my d40 lacking torque in the lower rpm range. Did you notice that with your own? Does the hot pipe replacement help?
@PrimalNomad4 жыл бұрын
I did notice that also, the hot pips definitely helped with it in some ways. It's taken the ability for the pipe to swell out which caused some noticeable power loss. All around its been a great upgrade and one of the first that I did!

@aris21536 ай бұрын
I see the same thing, and it´s not okey, that´s a failure symptom
@PrimalNomad6 ай бұрын
Generally this is a symptom of a bad solenoid (BCV) but I'm still to determine how much the actuator should move with idle. The engine utilises the turbo to move exhaust gasses via the actuator. How still if yours when the engine is off, it shouldn't have lots of play.

mine is not moving at all , at idle , i don't think i have vacuum , i pull all the hoses out , and nothing , no vacuum ...
@PrimalNomad4 жыл бұрын
There's a vacuum pump over near the oil filter on the right-hand side of the motor. You could lose vacuum through any crack in the line, but also inside the brake booster which is vacuum assisted. Check the pipes from the pump and let me know! Good luck!

I'm having a boost problem on my pathy. The boost pipe doesn't expand when squeezed and reved at the same time. When you say the actuator is that the rod underneath the waste gate? There doesn't seem to be a great deal of vaccum. I've just my vaccum pipes to samco one's. Any tips on what I should look at?
@PrimalNomad3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the actuator is that, moves up and down on vacuum. Sounds like the bcv may be playing up, try giving it a clean with some contact cleaner or wd40 and a good blow out. Does there seem to be vacuum if you take of the lines and block the ends with your fingers?
@andrewbaxter99863 жыл бұрын
@@PrimalNomad when you say bcv you mean the boost solenoid? I've ordered a new one to try and eliminate. While the engine is on tick over the turbo actuator doesn't move, but when I take that pipe off and on again it barely moves. Is this down to the boost solenoid or a vacuum problem or is it the boost solenoid that creates the vacuum?
@PrimalNomad3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the bcv is the boost solenoid 👍, it's what controls the vacum and regulates the turbo boost pressure, not the same, but similar in what it does to a wastegate on a petrol engine.

Thanks for watching! I've definitely noticed a difference for the boost, the older rubber pipes used to both swell and also vacuum in under load, these have completely eliminated that issue & also renewed the pipes which were starting to degrade so it was a win win.

It regulates the vacumn directed to the turbo and adjusts it according to revs for your boost, when it's playing up you may notice a significant change in turbo lag or acceleration.
