Another track day at Donington without incident! Starting to gain some faith/trust in the car now which could be my downfall haha!
Few issues to sort but nothing major, time consuming or expensive.
The day was odd really. All morning was a constant battle to even get on track with it being so over booked! But after we came back from lunch 2/3s of the cars seemed to of vanished. The afternoon was fantastic, with a thin dry line appearing to make for some faster but very challenging laps!
On the to do list is getting these brakes to behave, sort the downpipe out as it sits far too low and I would love a 6speed box to liven things up a bit! Also need to go back to Blink to sort out the top end power loss. It makes peak power at 5.5krpm and then tails off rapidly.

Have you thought about swapping to a TD05 turbo, the TD04 does tail off at high rpm. The TD05 would be more laggy but does actually help with traction at the lower revs when a TD04 would have you lighting the rears up. A VF28 or VF35 is another option. As they are larger in the hot side you get lower EGT’s ideal for a track car.

Would love to go to a TD05. I am currently running a T25/28 hybrid at the moment and agreed it does run out of puff early up the rev range. Feels super responsive though! Would be a fair whack of money on top of the build to change manifold, turbo and downpipe though. Certainly on the list but not for a good while yet! Will have to give Black Cat Motorsport a nudge and see if they can help me out haha!

CIRCUIT : DRIVER ahh didn’t realise you’re running a T28, in that case pull the motor, plonk some cheap rods in and go for a GT3071R. Much fun to be had! Or keep what you have and have the head ported?

haha! I love the sound of the forged rods plan! Maybe one day! Thanks for the advice bud (off to research GT3071Rs hehe).

@@CIRCUITDRIVERCARS the GT3071 is too big unless you are planning a full engine rebuild. If you don't, go for the GT2871. It's the best option if you don't plan to go above 14 psi.

Ever thought about building them as a service? Rough 0-60 times?

Would love to bud, but we are just so busy with regular jobs, families etc that it is a stretch to keep all our track toys maintained and developed, keep the channel up to date etc to offer a proper service and give it the time and effort something like that would really deserve. Will have to let you know on 0-60 times!

Damn you Russ haha! Bahh I dont know mate. Pros and cons! Being honest now the mx5 is a great toy, great nimble little track car but the 350z was a much more substantial car in general. I would much rather go to Nurburgring in the 350 than the mx5 and the 350 was better for road driving in general no doubt. problem is the mx5 as a track car doesn't cost me much to tax/insure each month wheras the 350z did, if I had a 350z and only used it sparingly I would feel I wasn't getting my moneys worth. That 350z felt so special though, loved the v6, meatier tyres and big brakes! It felt properly expensive considering it's actually a pretty cheap old Datsun! But you cant replicate lightness and the 350 felt more like a sports salloon than a two seater sports car. You could certainly improve on the 350z further to make it feel a little more edgy, more front camber and stiffer arbs would of been my next mods with a final drive and proper LSD shortly after. Maybe I will have another one in the future but for now I will crack on in the Mazda!

CIRCUIT TRAINING CARS haha great response! I've been questioning getting a Zed for a while, I think you've summed it up perfectly though! Maybe half the fun is just how much cheaper owning an MX5 is in comparison haha!
