IT'S ALIVE!!! Finally, the new turbo pinto is running! Man did we have some hold ups, mostly life outside of the garage, but also some issues with getting the sensors talking to the ecu properly. With that all resolved though she fired right up! There are a few jobs left to do before going to get it mapped, but man, we are VERY excited!!
DYNO VIDEO IS HERE - • Turbo Pinto Engine Bui...
DuckSport is friends, having fun with cars. We aren't professional mechanics, and have learnt what we know by spending time playing with cars and normally getting it wrong a couple of times first. You won't see big budget builds here, but hopefully that makes what we do interesting!

If you are looking for 300 bhp, why not go for a 16valve cosworth engine. 205 block. 250bhp is easy. 300 isn't to difficult to get and it breathes way better than any sohc can. If staying on sohc, sodium filled valves, ported & flowed head Had 174 bhp with twin carbs, 4 branch exhaust on a 2085cc Pinto. Put that in a Capri with a 2.8i back axle and brakes. Many a BMW 5series got passed. Say a guy had converted the rear end off a Sierra into a Capri. Unfortunately body work ain't my forte, so didn't go that route. Sold her to get an XR4x4 2.9. saw there was turbos for these but Megabucks to do

@DuckSport
@DuckSport 5 жыл бұрын
Mark Arrington the European pinto engine (rather than the Lima engine that was in the American pinto car) which this is, has a tough time reaching 200bhp, until you give it some boost anyway! Unfortunately over here in the uk people shy away from turbo and supercharging and so it never really got developed. Instead people spend many many thousands of pounds to build peaky NA engines that aren’t nice to drive on the road, all because that’s the tuning scene that was developed here because of their use in Motorsport.

Thanks for the video. I have a 2.3 turbo engine acquired from my brothers estate. Its mated up with a 5 speed from a ranger pick up. The engine is in a '27 ford T roadster partially completed. I have the ECU and entire wire loom from the donor '85 thunderbird. I have my work cut out for me as I have no idea where to start with this rats nest wiring. Any tips or web sites for further education appreciated.
@DuckSport
@DuckSport 5 жыл бұрын
I’ve certainly been there with the wiring. Best tip I can give you is spread it all out and just take it one wire at a time and label it all up. Once you’ve done that you can work out what needs to be where and should make the installation much easier. Can’t give you any links for further reading on your particular setup as although they look similar the European Pinto is very different to the us lima engine. A good forum for all things project car is Rhocar.org, primarily uk based and focused on kit cars, but excellent general car knowledge and friendly, helpful members.

NATO, North American Thunderbird Organization, turboford, foureyed pride, the merkur encyclopedia, and coolcats (if this one is still up). The guys on these sites know their business on these motors and cars. Took my T-Bird from 200 ho stock to 250 hp with just small cheap mods! If I go with a bigger turbo and 3" exhaust, I can get close to 300 hp. And if I go with a mega squirt 3 and ditch the stock ecm, I can go higher than that! Good Luck!

? - I put another air cleaner on a 73 pinto 2.0 and was wondering how to hook valve cover breather to the air cleaner. for the past 3 yrs, I just have some marine carpet with a clamp where you'd hook the hose on the oil breather? ON YOUR SET UP HERE, does your oil cap have a hose for connecting somewhere??
@DuckSport

For my setup I removed the valve from the block breather and routed it to a catch can instead. The oil cap in this video doesn't have a hose connection, it was the earlier type that just breathed over the rocker cover. I have since changed to the type with a hose connection which also goes to a catch can.

is 300hp and 225lbft your guess for this engine or something else? There is a video of this on the dyno on low boost on the channel. Not sure what Honda engines have to do with anything though? Certainly a 3000bhp engine of any description would be of no use to me in the car this engine is in, and of course, with a 3000bhp engine, you would need a transmission and axle capable of handing it, none of which comes cheap!
