HillBro I never understood the negative feedback but is what it is. My son is 9 and we just took our first Sled trip together!! So I can appreciate the father son time. On your long travel kit, did you guys use stock geometry or did you add additional length on top of the 6"? I know you made the car 6" longer by moving the rear differential and rear shock mounts back, but I'm curious if you also added additional length to the A-arms to make the wheel base 9" or 10" longer total?

It was a 6" chassis stretch and the suspension kit added an additional 2-3". So 8-9" stretch overall

I can buy either. Which one should I buy??? I have been on Yamaha dirt bikes my whole life and I have a YZF 450 quad. So I love Yamaha obviously. Which one is faster in the hoelshot? Which one is faster up the Dune climb? Which one is the all around better machine? I keep hearing the Can Am. I need to know this very soon. Please people who have experience with both let me know. Make a video where you show them race. None of this is VS? It just shows one time. Show 5 hole shots, dirt 5 times, sand 5 times, Dune climb 5 times, then track 5 times. PLEASE!

The Yamaha is a good machine but the Can-am is by far the best machine out of the box. We tried to do VS video that day but honestly we only had two runs up the hill before the clutch blew. So we used what footage we could. The clutch was not stock by the way. We have another turboed YXZ that has a turbo over a year. It runs strong and has never had a hint of clutch problems.

HillBro Those clutches don’t “blow”. They’re not a 2-stroke. You fan them, you burn them. Plenty of stock clutch YXZ’s out there with thousands of miles (including mine) being driven by people who understand that. I’ve driven the X3 a ton. There is absolutely no comparing the drive and experience. One is a rally car, the other more of a trophy truck that you don’t shift. YXZ requires more input, and for people coming from motocross, or people who like to drive, would be the likely choice. Plus it’s $5-$10 Grand cheaper.

HillBro I’ve had a YXZ cruising in on a year. Buying a X3 or XPT in the spring as well. The guy asked you a question likely because he’s looking for an honest and fair review. It’s not as simple as, “The X3 is superior out of the box”. My YXZ after all was said and done was $16,800. Ten grand less. That has value. So does the fact that the X3 can’t corner on par with the Yamaha. You’re comparing a rally car to a trophy truck in a lot of ways. They’re very different.

Driver error or modification mishap. Clutches don't burn themselves. You doubled the HP, did you leave the stock clutch or did the driver burn the clutch? I wouldn't call it a win for anyone, I'd say you guys don't know what you're doing.

Any reason you guys were running such high air pressure in your paddles? I see it was soft where the YXZ got stuck but tire pressures all around were a lot higher than what we run down South. About the only reasons we run that high are to save the rims from rock dinks or give some slip if the sand is wet, so things like CVs and axle shafts don't break.

We run around 7-12 lbs on our back tire pressures depending on application. I do a lot of jumping on my X3 and have popped tires off the bead with low pressure. Also with tires with a lot of grip and lots of power we have spun the beads on the rim causing them break beads and go flat.

That makes lots of sense, thanks. My experience was with lower power RZR 800 and 900 machines. The turbo motors make double their horsepower.

In the sand the stretch works better all around. It handles better and stretching it actually helps it from diving so much while maneuvering in the sand.

Yamaha will always win over any belt burner machine including the rubber band driven Can Am X3. Try putting 300+ hp through a belt lol. Driver also can't properly use the clutch, was 99% part of the failure driver error. And put a better clutch pack in the yxz.

This clutch was designed for stock hp and like every manual trans. out there, you cannot slip the clutch on anything for very long without wearing it out.

jason de How do they need suspension? The RR has fantastic suspension, the 3 cylinder Yamaha is such a better engine compared to the garbage V twin in the Can am as well. The only thing holding the Yamahas back is lack of aftermarket support for the transmission. That 3 cylinder will make 500 hp, the stock clutch packs can't hold anything though.
