Fuel added @ 15% ? Appears sooner unless I’m reading something different. Thanks for the share, awesome piece. Never will become tired of hearing a GT spool up!

I love your toys. The neighbors must be very comprehensive...or deaf?

The Romanian built Puma uses two of these very same engines. And Its weird how it sounds exactly like the Romanian Puma as she is starting up. Same timing point of introducing the fuel and getting that same Jet 'Moan' as it fires away. Weird seeing it on the ground and not wedged in a Puma. And that front intake of the engine is instantly recognisable from the pair of turbo shafts you would normally see on a Romani Puma at the front. Would have loved to have heard this motor on full power making the supercharger-like whine noise you get from the helicopter but without the rotors.

Are there modern helicopters that use TurboMecca engines?
@tightloose35062 жыл бұрын
Yes! Probably the most popular airframe that uses one is the airbus H125 (A star). It uses the Turbomecca Ariel 2D engine. The company has changed its name to Safran, but it's the same manufacturer.

😁 Thanks for the tests. So, what will you use it for, apart from it being an effective bird scarer?
@thewtf4 жыл бұрын
Probably sell it and let someone else put it into something!

i have a thought get a second engine and make a big direct drive from the gearboxs to car back wheels and create the fastest landspeed geared wheels car have to be big to handle the torque turn the gearbox 90 degrees to run the wheels diff what you think ? i bet it would go bloody fast take the landspeed record have to use ship diff to take the torque i reckon

Nice job. Do you use external oil pump for this engine
@thewtf4 жыл бұрын
No, it has its own in built oil pump

Cameraman why didn't you show use the gearbox output turning? Is it not possible to see this?
@thewtf3 жыл бұрын
The alternator is on the end of the gearbox output!!

An extinguisher close by is a good idea... but a bigger one is a better idea! You’d be surprised how quick a small CO2 extinguisher empties!

Hello Julian, beautiful engine. I was wondering if you ad any concerns about over speeding the power turbine running 80% with no load?
@thewtf4 жыл бұрын
Yes definitely! we had the RPM gauge connected to a tach-ten ton the FPT to keep an eye on this. Justin

@@thewtf Thanks, I saw several of these come up for sale some months ago Ex MOD. I am in Australia so bidding was difficult. I was wondering if you know anyone that may have one or two for sale.

Justin, why does the engine not move with its cradle when its cranked up?
@thewtf4 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick, it’s held in quite securely plus there’s not much vibration

Dis lekker man. Mis daardie dae in die lugmag toe ek aan die PUmas gewerk het. Ek vlieg nou net Wren 44 en Wren 54 model helikopter engines(some Turboshaft Jetcats). Sometimes if I'm lucky I'll fly the odd crop sprayer with a Jetcat engine powering it. It's all auto-start now. You don't have to know anything about aircraft or gas turbine engines.
@nicmost30443 жыл бұрын
Fantasties, mis dit. 7th sqdrn Rhodesian Air force working on Alouette 3 (SA 316) and LAMA 2 ( SA315) HELO's.. My engines was maar net helfde van die Shaft Horse Power van die een wat jy nou demonstreer. Love the sound of the start!!!
