This thing is common. It's rare to find a girl who will allow you to chase your dream. A good example is Anderson .paak dude was broke and at times homeless chasing music. While they had a baby x.x giving it up and working to support your family is also respectable. Especially how unpredictable twitch is. His career could die at any time. He's no buddah or x.

that's really tough man - still kinda agree with Omie in that there is a middle ground in which he doesn't have to commit to streaming or playing games but he can still be around and have fun with his friends, even if it's not regularly or on stream. Turk is a great guy and I'm sure most people respect him putting importance on his family but even the busiest of people can sometimes have extra time to wind down and play with their friends, maybe on a weekend, maybe on holidays, something. It's a real shame because Turk brings a lot of good energy to the people around him and I don't think he has to be or act "extra" in order to be that for people. Hopefully he figures out something because we still want to see and hear from him. Regardless, hope his family situation flourishes and brings him all the happiness in the world.

I don’t think people realize how much a of degen lifestyle streaming can be, especially when you’re balancing it with life. Omies good at streaming when he wants but Turk is clearly vanilla to this kind of thing, it’s not just a hop on whenever you want and have a good stream. The same people who are saying his family should respect his decision to stream are the same people that aren’t respecting his decision to not stream and do what makes him happy. I genuinely believe he’s happier now that he’s made his intentions clear.

Yeah but if you know yourself good enough that you cannot stick to that and the streaming becomes like a compulsion/addiction that just thumbs in your head and you know you will start to make longer and longer streams, then there really isn't that middleground. Also if her new fiance doesn't like it and they don't even really know each other that well (maybe somekinda arranged marriage type of thing) it will be a big wall to overcome, she isn't just going to change her mind and for him there might not be no point in streaming if he cannot kinda step out of himself and make it a show. Also the there not being middle-ground and there being family heavily involved can be very much cultural thing, since he is talking like his family and fiancee is at the point of leaving him alone if he continues.

People in this comment section really showing their ignorance by: Firstly, saying “his family and fiancé should respect his streaming career,” while also simultaneously not respecting Turk’s OWN conclusion that balancing life and streaming isn’t gonna work and he’d rather cut out streaming. Secondly, downplaying how damaging Turk’s degen streaming schedule and rp addiction can be in real life. A perfect example would be how Hasan (Donnie) quit. He quit because streaming was taking up too much of his time and cutting into real life relationships. One of the tipping points was Will (Hasan’s best friend) saying he barely even saw Hasan anymore, even to go to the gym. Take that example and multiply it because of the time difference. Turk has an absolutely degen schedule, mostly being up very late in the nights into the morning (his time). That’s just not sustainable, especially since he recently got engaged. Imagine your partner, who you’re going to make a life commitment with, suddenly got into a new hobby (and yes streaming at this point was a hobby since he only recently got partnered and was making money) and he just has no time to spend with you anymore because he’s sleeping during the days / working his family job and at nights he’s streaming. That’s not a sustainable relationship, especially not when you’re getting ready to make a commitment. While it’s sad Turk is quitting, it’s very much makes sense and it’s been fun while it lasted. All you can do is respect his decision and move on. No need to start saying dumb stuff like, “his culture is preventing him from doing what he likes” or “his fiancé not supporting him is a red flag”

This is the prime example how family members can ruin careers by not supporting their loved one. Nothing wrong with it, and all love to his family since this new streaming era is confusing and many its really hard to understand. Another ruined big career here. from what it sounds like being he was given a choice it almost sounds like a traditional arranged type of marriage. not that there's anything wrong with that. In traditional marriages like that he may actually NOT have a real choice. His family may be pressuring him or putting weight on the decision because of the outcome of the marriage. like i said i dont want to speculate because Turk's an awesome guy and he deserves nothing but happiness in his future endeavors. His fiance also seems old traditional in values. Where everything that her husband does and portrays himself may have impact on her social standing. A lot of countries are like that actually. Sometimes we forget how lucky we are that we have actual freedoms in choosing our partners. Not everyone has that freedom though. Some people that aren't so informed on new lifestyles may not be as open or not know enough about western culture. A big hint was when he said dont shit on anyone from my family or insult them which pretty much means they are the bigger part of his choice. Whatever the case may be, hope Turk's fiancee will see the bigger picture where Turk's online presence is valued by many people in game and in his streamer community. Best of luck to you Turk.

Us young people (especially sub 40 years old) have a hard time understanding how older people see video games and its effects on us as people. They are dopamine machines and basically put your reward system on overdrive 100% of the time. You get burnt out on it, whether you realize it or not, and things just don't feel as exciting or motivating as they used to. I'll be honest, my friendships and family relations have suffered greatly due to my entertainment addiction. There are nephews and nieces I haven't spoken to in YEARS and it's horrible. I don't blame Turk at all for quitting. There is more fulfilment to be had in life than sitting in front of a screen and this is coming from someone who is 27 and has played video games since he was 10. This isn't even touching on the health problems that follow sitting for hours at a time for years on end. I often find myself thinking about how things could have been different. One thing I've learned is that there really isn't a middle ground with the way progression in many AAA video games works. You have to spend hundreds of hours progressing only to have it wiped and start over again. It's a real bitch if you stream, in this regard, because you have to commit an immense amount of time just to be even close to competitive with other streamers. Add in the fact that genetics determines reaction speed, thinking under pressure and more... It just gets to be too much and we tend to lose sight of the simple and happy life. *I wish you luck Turk and sorry for the wall of text.*

Honestly, he sounds convicted and regardless of how everyone feels about it, he is making a decision that is best for him and his family. Some people simply can't multitask their lives and often times their lives require a little more focused attention than the average. I find it interesting that those who are single and devoted to streaming full time as their actual job are the ones piping in about Turk just needing to 'get his time better managed' and 'find middle ground'. Turk is happy with his decision and he feels like a burden has been lifted from him. Both are signs he is making the right choice. Streaming RP has a shelf life and streaming itself will eventually die down and be replaced with something else. What will last forever is our legacies we create through our personal lives and achievements...through the memories we create with our friends and loved ones and the family lineage that flows from us into the future. That's what Turk wants for himself and his life...rather than putting all that energy into a pseudo-digital life that doesn't even feature an authentic self, let alone a life with anything tangible to be left behind.
@mykeh3155

There is no sign that this is the right choice, happiness in uncertain situations is usually a sign of hope and sometimes confused with relief when you no longer need to make a decision. It's kind of like new years resolutions, a lot of people are happy after making one, but then they fail and feel like shit, or succeed but no longer get any emotion out of it as it wasn't what they expected. Only time will tell.

This all sounds like the same "Turkish culture" thing you hear all the time from your friends or people you know, where it feels like the whole culture is about "honor" and how people think of you, and I don't wanna be that guy but in that culture your family pushes you to do things even if you don't want to, to make decisions based on "if you dont do that you really dont care about your family" which again plays into the whole honor thing, it sucks but that's how it is, if you dont usually do that your family pushes you away and you usually end up losing contact to your family and friends since they kind of "banish" you indirectly. Seen it many times with my friends before who were held hostage by honor culture and had to choose either enjoy your life how you want to but end up being banished by most your family, or play by your families rules.

So no disrespect to anything he has going on in his personal life but as a wife or a husband you need to support the other's dream. If he needs to cut down to spend time with his family that's totally doable and he can still have a career out of this. His online behavior is a persona it's as if he is an actor in a movie or a tv show and the fact his family or his fiancee isn't respecting that is messed up. I would hope if she had a dream he'd support her especially if the dream is realistic. If Turk quit his job and everything and had no subs or followers or ad revenue the of course that would be a deal breaker but that isn't the case. Turk is at the height of his potential career as a streamer. He shed tears for this and worked hard. I saw him on stream try to talk to Omie about what was happening and he seemed defeated. Omie as a good friend told him to talk about it off stream. I agree with Omie and Ming when they say he shouldn't quit permanently. People can make both work it just has to be a balance and his fiancee needs to realize that her man is a basically an actor and most people understand that his character isn't him as a person. Also there is nothing wrong with his character. Turk the character brings so much joy and positivity to other people and to lose that is beyond a shame. I support Turk no matter what his decision I just want him to be sure and happy.
