This is due to the Persian influence on both languages. Bear in mind that this Persian was already mixed with a lot of Arabic words due to the Arab conquest of Persia in seventh century. (Arabic influence on Persian 😊) For example, majority of the words mentioned here are of Arabic origin, except few words like Pardah, Jaan, Hafta and Aahista which are pure Persian words.
@shakeelmur4 жыл бұрын
@ShehryarPakistani Yes of course. Urdu was created by blending Persian words with khadiboli. Words like Hindustan, Pakistan and Punjab are of Persian origin.
@nikunjarya96414 жыл бұрын
@@shakeelmur Not just Persian, but also Arabic and Turkic origin words. Though the majority of Influence is of Persian language. But I can't say about the word Punjab, because: In Persian : Penj + Ab. In Sanskrit : Panch + Ap. So I would rather say that this is a cognate word.
@shakeelmur4 жыл бұрын
@@nikunjarya9641 Bear in mind when I say Persian it's Morden Persian not middle Persian. Middle Persian underwent tremendous changes following the Arab conquest of Persia in seventh century. Large number of Arabic words were borrowed and the script was switched to parso Arabic. It is this Persian that was blended with khadiboli to create Urdu. That means no Arabic words came directly to Urdu but through Persian only. You can see that all the Arabic words in Urdu have got Persian accent. (Ex. Zaroorat, Zulm, Zikr - in Arabic it's DHaroorah, Dhulum, dhikr). Also Punjab is definitely Persian. Panj = five and Aab = water. In Sanskrit it's Pancha. Turkish words are very few in Urdu even though the word Urdu is Turkish origin. The Persian word Urdu is derived from the Turkish word Ordu. English word hord is also derived from this Turkish word.
@nikunjarya96414 жыл бұрын
@@shakeelmur Yes I know all this actually, though the name Urdu was give during Mughal empire period, the blended language was formerly called Kauravi, due to the region it developed in was Kuru, around Delhi NCR, then it got a lot of names, like, Hindavi, Hindui, Rekhta and finally with some more mixing it became Urdu.
@shakeelmur4 жыл бұрын

Also , Derya (دریا) is a common Turkish name which means almost the same in Urdu i.e. river in Urdu and sea in Turkish. This is bound to be the case since Urdu language has its origins in Turkish, Farsi, Arabic and Hindi.

Urdu is basically a Turkish word meaning *army* and it came into being from a combination of 9 languages. The background of this language is that, in the army of the Mughal emperor, there were soldiers of Turkish, Persian, Arab, Hindi, Afghan, Greek and other nationalities. From all these conversations, this new language was formed which was very much liked by the then King Aurangzeb and then it was introduced regularly about 400 years ago.
@shakeelmur4 жыл бұрын
You are wrong. Urdu was there long before the arrival of Mughals. Urdu language was created by blending Persian words with khadiboli language of India. (Bear in mind that this Persian already contained large number of Arabic loanwords due to the Arab conquest and islamization of Persia) This happened when the army of Mahmoud Ghaznavi from present day Afghanistan attacked north western India around a thousand years ago. They named this language as zabaan e Urdu e mualla which means language of exalted camp in Persian because they created it in military camp. Modified Parso Arabic script was adopted to write this language. Through centuries of different dynasties, it developed and flourished in different names such as Urdu, Hindavi, and Hindustani. N.B. Urdu is a Turkic origin word. In Turkish it's Ordu. But in Persian it's Urdu.

Fark is pronounced same in Turkish and Urdu. Unfortunately in most of Punjab, especially Lahore, it is pronounced "FARAK" incorrectly. I don't know how FARK became FARAK in lahore, but it is probably to do with Punjabi influence on the pronunciation. When it comes to pronunciation, Urdu has many dialects across the country. That is because there are many languages spoken in different parts of the country and some of them are completely different to each other. Urdu is the common language, spoken widely, but the pronunciation has subtle variations depending on the region. I am sure there are more words common between Turkish, Persian, Urdu, Uzbek, Kurdish, Pashto, and other languages in the region. All of these countries were a single state just a few years ago. We all have so many commonalities but unfortunately we have been focusing on our negligible differences lately. Fortunately things are changing. And you my dear are one of those few who are stepping up and bringing people closer.
@htastemaster71884 жыл бұрын
Turkish has a lot of Persian and Arabic but words are mispronounced in Urdu due to Hindi influence. Urdu is basically just Hindi wirtten in a different script and trying to use Persian and Arabic words. Just because Hindi / Urdu borrows Arabic and Persian words which are misprounced dies not make it Arabic, Persian or Turkish.
@htastemaster71884 жыл бұрын
I think it's the other way around. In Punjabi one would say " farq" similar to Turkish and Persian but in Urdu / Hindi it is mispronounced as "farak". Urdu and HIndi pronounce "farq" differently but in Punjabi it is closer to the originally pronunciation in the original language.

@@htastemaster7188 Well, it is actually the other way around. All you need to do is to look at the history of India. It all started in 12th century, with the rule of Qutb-ud-din Aybak Who was a Turk by the way. However, he came from Persia, with support from then Persian rulers. That Muslim rule (actually Turkik rule to be more precise) over India lasted until the last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shaha Zafar, till the year 1857... Almost all of the Muslims rulers were from Turkik origin in one way or the other. Even the Afghans were actually Originally Turk migrants in Afghanistan. The language of the court during these years, for as long as about 650 years, was largely Persian, and there were many difficulties in translation. A new language was born, out of necessity to communicate between the soldiers of a very diverse group of warriors, this was Urdu in its infancy. Later on someone probably tried to communicate in that new language in written form, and being more familiar with alphabets from Persian, they used Persian alphabets to write this newly born language. This is why Urdu is called "Lashkari Zaban", i.e., language of the army One thing that you need to remember is the fact that "the language of the court prevails". ALWAYS. The modern interpretation of the same principle is English. Last Empire in our history was the British Empire, and hence the language of the court prevailed. Even to this day, the country that is truly ruling the world is USA, hence, the language of the Rulers is considered best language to communicate. Urdu was a mixture of Persian, Sanskrit, Turkish and a little bit of Arabic. Unlike common believe, there are very few Arabic words in Urdu. Hindi is a modern interpretation of Urdu, with emphasis on Sanskrit. Both Urdu and Hindi can trace their origins at the same 12th century Turkish rule, some wrote it in Persian script (Urdu) and other in Devnagri (Hindi), but the language was largely the same. The modern Hindi however is not the same as Urdu. There are many differences. Unlike Urdu, the modern Hindi is heavily influenced by Sanskrit whereas Urdu is still very close to Persian. Origin of modern Hindi is actually a lot younger than what is generally believed.

@@razaabidi5523 The original Turkic invaders of the subcontinent quickly choose Persian as the court language. You can see how how the Baburnama changes from Chugtai Turkic to Persian in the biographies of subsequent rulers. Turkic belongs to a different family of languages that Arabic and Hebrew ( Semitic) or Persian ( Indo Aryan). As for Urdu meaning army in Turkish, we all know that but there are few original Turkish words in Urdu / Hindi apart from perhaps "baji". Both Hindi and Urdu are considered the same langue by linguists including the ruling British who called it "Hindustani". I understand that linguistics is not taught as a discipline in Pakistan which is why some people there in Pakistan say Urdu comes from Turkish or some will say it comes from Arabic or some will say it comes from Persian. In reality it is a Sanskrit based language which comes from Northern India which is why so many Pakistanis question why it is even used at all in Pakistan since it is not indigenous to any of the native people.

Dear Turkan, Its really nice to see you speaking good Urdu. The words you have picked up similar are even more as urdu language is mixture of Turkish, Pershian and Arabic language and there are some mixture of other languages spoken in India and Pakistan. In fact in Pakistan with the passage of time we have taken English as the only way of gaining success and being our official language has definitely affected our Urdu especially pronunciation. However your efforts are commendable and will help many Pakistanis to learn Turkish language. Good Luck
