Ok your Gus pic is the sweetest thing in the world, what a wonderful gift that was!!!! You guys probably beat any NYC restaurant for taste, but maybe try Fred’s on the upper west side. It’s nothing fancy, but the food is good. And since you are dog lovers, Fred was a black lab who was a seeing eye dog. The restaurant walls are covered with photos of customers’ dogs. 🐾🥰🥹 I like the place.

Another duo I follow for food & cooking is Ham & Sohla El-Wally. Ham opened up a restaurant in NY called Strange Delight; I believe a nod to New Orleans cuisine. The menu looks delish! As well, I like to check out June Like the Month here on YT. A native NYer and resident of Queens, she knows where to eat and provided suggestions. But I cannot direct to specific videos cause it has been awhile.

I’ve never had turkey burgers. Here in NZ turkey is rare, like you’ll find it around Christmas and such, but we don’t have turkey mince next to the chicken mince.

Turkey is really common for lunch meat any time and holidays in the US, and ground turkey is a super common "healthy" swap for fattier ground beef. But we have so many turkeys here, not just the farmed ones for food. There are wild turkeys that roam in packs all over the southeast at least, not sure where all they live in the wild. Growing up we always had freshly hunted wild turkeys for the holidays. And I'm not that old, it was the 90s lol
