I have been making turkey neck soup for years. I absolutely LOVE it. I would love to be able to find chicken necks but those are very hard to come by where I live. Turkey necks are delicious and yes, I eat them with my fingers.

I wondered which countertop burner you used. Great price on that! I only have 1 large burner on my stove, and when I have different foods to can, rather than having to wait, having that extra burner would be great! You have taught me so much about good foods and cooking! My mother, if she were still alive, would be shocked at what I can make now! Thank you from east Texas!

So great to see a recipe for turkey necks, a family favorite. We were usually using them to make the broth for dressing/stuffing. Then we decided to try turkey necks with dumplings. They were wonderful.

Mary thanks for going in depth on this recipe! I think I read somewhere that Vietnamese Pho is a replicant of Pot au Feu! I love them both! Such a wonderful video. This is why you’re my favorite channel. I made your pumpkin soup recipe but substituted butternut squash because I had it. It came out great. I think the leeks add so much to these dishes. I am always awed and delighted by your wonderful and helpful videos. Thank you

As a french, the way you say pot-au-feu is very good. I love pot-au-feu, and it makes wonderful leftovers ( Parmentier, poireaux vinaigrette, bouillon vermicelles, salade charcutière...) you can have almost à whole week of meals after a pot-au-feu...

Looks delicious. Meat by the bone is always the tastiest part. My foot pedal should be here by the 8th. Then I can start my next job. Found a metal house kit with our ideal layout. It has an option for an extra fireplace in the master bedroom. There is a fireplace in the great room. We do get freezing temps in the Fall/Winter. It has a canning pantry in it. My room will be able to fit everything my old one did. There are two extra rooms for guests or an office.

The apron is beautiful and shows off so good with the solid color blouse. My mom always wore 1/2 aprons. Kinda Mid-Century Modern. Very seasonal looking. Great recipe. Mom loved the necks as she said they were so flavorful.

Oh yes, Mary, I have a turkey neck. Oh, you mean an *actual* turkey neck, like, for soup! lolololol Now that that's out of the way, I remember when the supermarket would sell a big package of chicken necks and backs for soup, but it's been decades since I've seen those.

Im happy to say: I have a zero-waste kitchen. If it isn’t served as a meal, some goes to the chickens, raw bones to the dogs, inedible scraps are composted and in turn, given to the garden. Even cooked bones are trenched to return their remaining mineral content to the soil. I’ve learned these things rather late in life, but it’s never too late to begin.

Dear Mary, I’ve watched quite a few ( read nearly 80%) of your fantastic videos. I do detect a little bias. It’s Gruyère cheese. I’m guessing it’s a favourite of yours? Delicious with a modest flavoured soup. Thanks again for a great video. 😊😊😊😊

Just ordered your cookbook this morning‼️ (I’ve been so busy, I didn’t even realize you were working on a book). I opted for the spiral bound format, as I expect to have it open on my countertop nearly 24-7. PS… I HOPE you’ve included a home cook’s version of vichyssoise 😀

@Mary, Mary "Pots O Fire?" Watching this I was thinking about your Ben talking about the Kefir!! LOL!!! BUT I will try the broth aspect of it and the veggies because I know that the turkey necks would make a delicious soup/broth. I loved watching Jacque and Julia Child when they used to have the show and cook together. Sometimes they were really funny together. There is one broth that I dearly love and with the Asian influence in your family it would be wonderful if you would do a video on "Pho noodle" soup. (Pronounced FA) It's one of my favorites of all time soups. That is if you are familiar with it. There are many different flavors to make such as chicken, beef or just vegetable. With winter coming on, soups are our new best friend and even more so with the rising prices. God bless and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

I have learned SO much from you! Other cooks as well. I would like to share an idea that isn't as eco-friendly but is a time saver: strain broth/stock and the like through paper towel inside your mesh strainer for the second or third go. One of the other cooks I watch recommended it to get the really fine sediment out of a broth. He also mentioned quality of the paper towel, but since he's in the UK and I am not, I don't think we have the same standards for paper towels. His are most likely much better than I can afford. I personally would not bother except my friend recently got dentures so I am super-concerned that I don't give him food he can't eat. He plans to survive on canned soup and instant potatoes, but I want him to have something tasty that won't hurt his sore gums. So I make stock/broth to cook soft foods for him, so I worry about the sediment...

Oh, yes! I always strain my bone broth, but I use a flour sack towel. They are very inexpensive and very sheer and do a wonderful job. You could also use cheesecloth, but it’s not as reusable. Hope this helps! Love, Mary

@@MarysNest I only mentioned it for people who don't have those cloths. I rarely use paper towels at home, but when I am not at home, I use what is handy.

Hi Mary, i am going to make L. Reuteri yogurt for very first time. I have a question. Can you tell me please for how long i can keep a portion of yogurt in the fridge to start a new batch , if i dont want to do it right away ?? Thank you !

You can keep the yogurt in your fridge for 10 days and then use it. Or you can dehydrate some and then rehydrate it when you would like to make more yogurt. Hope this helps. Love, Mary ❤️🤗❤️

I ordered a cob salad once at a restaurant and they brought me a cutting board with a huge piece of Cabbage and a knife and some vegetables and dressing. I hated it. 😂. I thought if I was going to order a over priced salad, the least they could do is actually make it themselves. I didn't complain to them, but I was pretty shocked. I never ordered that again. 😅😅
