4 жыл бұрын

This is the easiest bread you will make as it requires no kneading, only just mixing the ingredients and then shaping!INGREDIENTS
500 g (1 pound) flour;
150 ml (5 fl. oz) warm milk;
150 ml (5 fl. oz) warm water;
1 tsp salt;
2 tbsp dry yeast;
3 tbsp olive oil;
chopped parsley, chili flakes.

METHOD
Whisk flour with salt and yeast. Add warm water and milk and knead just until liquids absorb.
Add olive oil and knead until smooth dough forms (around 10 minutes).
Form the dough into a ball, cover with vegetable oil and set aside in warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
When the dough is done rising, cut it into 6 and roll each piece into a ball.
Roll out each flatbread and place on a pan preheated on medium-high heat. Cook for 5-6 minutes (2.5-3 minutes on each side). When you flip each flatbread it should rice up to make a pocket in the middle.
Brush each hot flatbread with oil, then top with parsley and chili flakes.

I tried making this today and yes, it is so soft... And easy to make. The only bread that is easy to make. One of these breads totally fills you 👍 I added a few drops of ghee/clarified butter on the top so it had a very nice aroma. I added salt only in the end to not inactivate the yeast. Thanks for the recipe.

Pita of many kinds are common in the middle east as similar flat breads are in other parts of the world. It's my first time trying to make any. Daniela L. You probably can just make sure you google the ratio once, I think to substitute dry yeast with fresh yeast the ratio is 2:1 or something like that, just look it up once I’m not really sure sorry. Plus as long as you keep an eye on it during the proofing process it shouldn’t matter, the time might vary though that’s about it.

When the pocket doesn't form, make sure you fold the corners under after cutting the dough up into individual pieces. I found this was the most important factor I omitted when they didn't rise on the stove. I also found cooking for 15 seconds on first side, then 20 seconds on second side, then flipping back to first side and letting it rise helped. Adding 25 more grams of water when making the dough didn't hurt the pocketing either.
