Eid Mubarak! Thank you for this travelog/recipe video, well done. You didn't mind the junk food because it gave you an excellent excuse to enjoy it too! 😁 LOL! This is my Mother's potato salad recipe. I understand your Islamic dietary requirements concerning pork, so all you have to do is omit the bacon in the recipe, or replace it with your choice of a meat ingredient. I have never tried it but I think this recipe would work well with boiled and shredded chicken breast in place of the bacon. On a few occasions, when I had an abundance of fresh shrimp, I added boiled shrimp to the recipe. Texas Country Style Potato Salad: Ingredients: 4 strips bacon 1 lb small peeled Russett potatoes (My Mother always used new red potatoes, but I prefer the Russett) 1 sliced green onion 1 boiled egg, chopped 1/4 cup mayonnaise 1 teaspoon mustard to taste salt to taste pepper Instructions: 1. Fry bacon until crispy. Drain, reserving a few tablespoons of the bacon grease, and crumble. Set aside. 2. Place the potatoes in a large pan. Cover with cold water. Add a tablespoon of the bacon grease (or EVOO/vegetable oil if you are omitting the bacon,) and some salt and place over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil and cook until the potatoes are tender. Drain and allow the potatoes to cool, and then dice into bite-size pieces. 3. In a separate bowl, mix mayonnaise, mustard, salt and pepper for dressing. 4. Toss potatoes, green onion and chopped egg in the dressing. Refrigerate until chilled. 5. Sprinkle crumbled bacon over the salad just prior to serving.

Hello!😊🙋🏻♀️ always my pleasure! Yes it was a good excuse as you noticed well 🫠🤭 Thanks for the detailed recipe, I would love to try. In old times we used to add boiled sausage that is diced to add to the salad. But as you said chicken would also work. I have never tried with boiled egg. Will do it hopefully. Best wishes 🤗

Thank you for sharing, as always ❤❤ Here in the US, or at least in the northeast, we would actually call that potato salad a Russian salad. I’ve seen it called Olivier salad online as well. American potato salads are diverse by region but tend to have potato, onion, celery, mayo, mustard, and sometimes hardboiled egg or vinegar. Give ours a try some time!
@TFT5 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing, yes we also sometimes call it a Russian Salad. But as far as I know the Russian version has boiled and diced sausage but not sure. I will definitely want to try real American ways :)

Hi. There are many, many variations on potato salad in the US (and also macaroni salad as well). You basically added what we would consider macaroni salad ingredients to potatoes. For macaroni salad we add mayonnaise, finely chopped celery, grated carrots, finely chopped pickles, and some paprika. And sometimes its just macaroni, mayonnaise, chopped celery, and the canned green peas. Plus salt & black pepper to taste. Some people even make a salad with just the green peas, chopped celery, mayonnaise, and salt and black pepper, and leave out the pasta entirely. For potato salad we usually add mayonnaise, chopped hard boiled eggs, finely chopped onions, sometimes chopped celery, salt & black pepper, and sometimes paprika, or sometimes dill. It depends on what flavors we are going for and what we plan to have to eat with it. Some people add chopped green bell pepper or chopped red bell pepper to either their pasta salad or potato salad. Chopped raw onions are a popular add-in, for a lot of people, to both macaroni salads and potato salads. Pasta salads are also sometimes served as a main dish with an italian salad dressing- style dressing (with the customary flavor profiles of garlic, onion, and so on, in an oil & vinegar base), then we add cut up tomatoes, cut up salami chunks, cut ripe olives, and chunks of monterey jack cheese, swiss cheese, or feta cheese to this type of salad.

What a beautiful Eid celebration!!❤ From the bountiful breakfast to the lovely picnic in the park, everything was wonderful. When I do potato salad, I like to add some of the pickle brine and if the brine doesn’t have mustard seed, I add that to the salad too. Hard boiled eggs are also a regular addition for me as well as a bit of grated onion or finely chopped green onions. Thank you for this beautiful vlog overall. Every recipe and every moment was special ❤❤

Salam dear, not everyone practices Islam well. Majority are Muslim, but some of them for example don't cover their hair but still pray 5 times a day, some only goes Jumuah prayers, etc. In soap operas they want to show a different life of Turks and whatever people are interested to watch

Assalam alaikum, very nice to see Eid festival and holidays in Turkiye.🕌 Istanbul there looked almost empty with most people gone! One of the places that I wish to see is Capadocia, with its ancient cave dwellings, so that is my request, a video on it. The other city is Adana, with its cuisine and the popular 'Adana Kebabs".🍜
