Amazing to see a Frankish ie west European army back in possession of Constantinople some 700 years after the Franks seized had the city in 1204 ad. It is baffling that just 4 years later such victorious powers as England and France handed the city back to Turkish and Islamic occupation, which continues today. The enormous strategic and commercial importance of the city, along with its 1,100 year Christian heritage prior to the Muslim conquest in 1453 should have persuaded the Allies to retain the city as a completely separate political entity from Turkey with at least a partial restoration of its Christian and European culture. What a shame that they did not do that.
