I haven't tried leonardo for food images but they do have image reference/guide you can use similar to the method I used in here, not sure if they would be realistic though. You can also try adobe firefly for free.

Hmm, good question. Not the exact same process but if they sometimes have new ai tools that can do different things and you can link the workflow. For free tools, you can see my adobe firefly video and maybe you can do similar for free.
