How to make brooches from fabric scraps and orts
I want to introduce you to my needle felting machine by simplicity (also known as an embellishing machine). It has 12 very sharp felting needles (thankfully with a safety guard) which penetrate fabrics to mesh them together, just like normal felting but faster! Great for adding texture to fabrics as well as joining fabrics together and felting, it makes fabulous backgrounds which you can then turn into so many different things like textile art or in this case, wearable textile art jewellery as I turn the fabric I make into two beautiful brooches for my green coat.
I will show you how the felting needles work with different types of fabric & how I turn that into tiny pieces of wearable art with a few little extra slow stitched details and buttons.
I use a felting machine but I have had similar effects using my clover needle felting tool too. If you do use felting needles - be warned - be careful - they are very sharp!!
