Although I don't mind the song that won, this one for me is so much more interesting. So far this years ESC is so ballad heavy and very middle of the road and it needs more upbeat energetic songs....and although this wouldn't win for Iceland, it sure would have made the contest interesting!

I watched Söngvakeppnin 2022 Final, on demand, online from the United Kingdom one day late. I thought Sigga, Beta and Elín (aka Systur) - "Með hækkandi sól" was the best of the two songs in the second round, and it was one of the songs I most wanted to qualify from the ESC 2022 First Semi-Final. Althogh Reykjavíkurdætur - "Turn This Around" is undeniably livelier and punchier, if it had won the Söngvakeppnin 2022 Final second round, and hence gone to the ESC 2022, I have my doubts as to whether or not it would have qualified to the Grand Final, let alone done better than 23rd with 20 points in the Grand Final. To be quite frank and honest, I was disappointed with the selection of five songs for the Söngvakeppnin 2022 Final, and whichever entry had gone to the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, it would have either failed to qualify for the Grand Final, or finished in the bottom five of the Grand Final. I guess it was difficult to find anything close to matching the entries from Daði og Gagnamagnið ("Think About Things" in 2020 and "10 Years" in 2021).

This song should have won Söngvakeppnin. It was a very close vote, and Systur won it. This song is SO incredibly Eurovision that I doubt they would have finished anywhere less than the top 10. The song by Systur that won was very good, but it just wasn't "Eurovisiony" enough! The Daughters of Reykjavik had a fun, upbeat song with plenty of dancing and flashy costumes. It would have been an audience favorite in Turin this year.

Tbh I what I think that really happened is that all the people who wanted Katla and Stefán voted for Með Hækkandi Sól in the superfinals + older people probably voted for them as well (voices we don’t hear so much on the internet)

this my second place of the selection and i can’t believe this didn’t win. this is so icelandic and out there. maybe a little too edgy tho. still catchy tho like. also surprised by how badly katla did in the selection. she was my winner and i love that song. i was worried that this would beat katla but none of them even one lol. just gave another chance to the winner and it’s boring. it has some character but the second verse is identical especially cuz i don’t speak icelandic. this gets annoying at the end tho highkey. 4/18/22
