**FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS** [updated 1/5/24] (check here before asking!): Thank you all so much for the support you’ve given TAAAM, it’s been really wonderful to see both new Ace Attorney fans find this show and old AA fans rediscover the Turnabout Musical project after many years. We’re so happy to see all of you here! 1. "Is this related to the Random Encounters or Takarazuka Ace Attorney musicals?" Not at all! TAAAM is the latest iteration of the long running Ace Attorney fan project Turnabout Musical, which began on the Court-Records forum in November 2007 - long before RE existed or even before Takarazuka did its first AA musical! The original project was conceived as a traditionally-animated, six-hour musical miniseries faithfully adapting Cases 1-4 of the first Ace Attorney game, and subsequent stage adaptations have focused on condensing this original screenplay down to a manageable, performable length. TAAAM seeks to rework the original music and script specifically with the stage in mind, focusing on making the story character-driven and emphasizing the pathos of the plot without losing AA’s trademark humor and charm. 2. "This is a long-running project? Where can I find the stuff that’s been around for fifteen years?" The Turnabout Musical Linktree in the description is your best bet! You can find the social media platforms TM is currently on and the TM Production Package, as well as past productions like 2015’s Turnabout Musical Original Soundtrack by PW Musical Productions, 2016’s Turnabout Musical LIVE! by Nerdification Media, 2021’s Turnabout Musical: Live at the Phoenix Theater by Albino Squirrel Productions, and information/a GoFundMe for Turnabout Musical: The Miniseries and Turnabout Musical: Virtual Edition by Gero Productions, currently in development! 3. "Will the soundtrack be on Spotify?" Unfortunately, the Original Cast Recording will not be available for music streaming outside of KZbin. Legal gray area with CAPCOM aside, the largely collaborative nature of the Turnabout Musical project means that there are LOTS of people who have worked on the music (as you can see by the credits), including folks that haven’t been around for nearly fifteen years. Any potential income from Spotify revenue of the songs would have to somehow be proportionally split up (however one could even decide those proportions) between dozens of people, many of whom have not been in direct contact with each other for many years. It is in the best interest of the creative flexibility of the TM project, and to avoid any legal issues with CAPCOM, to protect everything created for it as “for non-profit only”. As a result, the licensing agreement of the Turnabout Musical Production Package (under which TAAAM is produced) prohibits any performance of Turnabout Musical to be done for profit, including a for-profit soundtrack release onto a streaming platform. HOWEVER! The full show is available to listen to via Spotify Podcasts and Apple Podcasts, meaning you can still listen to the songs in the context of the whole show. In addition, you can manually import the mp3 downloads for the Original Cast Recording tracks into your personal Spotify account in order to listen to it that way. 4. "When is Act II coming out?" IT’S HERE! kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqLVYmR5f9qAapY 5. "Is anyone going to perform TAAAM live? Can I do it?" There has already been interest from several parties about performing TAAAM live, including pre-production at a theatre in northern Louisiana; we’ll share more details about any of those productions as they solidify. In addition, the script, instrumental tracks, and sheet music are now publicly available via the link in the description, and can be used for anything as long as you give credit to the original creators and do not make a profit. If you’re interested in putting together a full production under those stipulations, please let us know, and we are absolutely willing to help you out however we can! 6. "Are you gonna do Turnabout Samurai, Rise from the Ashes, Justice For All, etc., future games in the Ace Attorney series?" TAAAM is a two-act stage production, and it ends with Act II’s adaptation of Turnabout Goodbyes. However, there has always been interest in developing TM sequels based on later stories in the AA series, and concepts/songs have already been shared around the TM community relating to them, if you’re interested in contributing! As for Turnabout Samurai, the original TM project adapted it, and you can hear those Case 3 songs on the Turnabout Musical Original Soundtrack. Also, Albino Squirrel Productions produced Turnabout Samurai as a standalone stage production in August 2022, which you can watch here! kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHOsi4eYaNOVr6ssi=wIp3fHkicQhNcWSp Thanks again, everyone!

47:41 You still did that dumb “changing of defendants” from the original case? Can’t you just keep Maya as the main defendant and just have White name Phoenix as just an accomplice, like the original should have done? This destroys all of the tension from Maya from before by suddenly getting her out of dodge.

Extremely late reply, but I’ve been feeling nostalgic, and I’m guessing we crossed paths doing storyboards back in the early days. HOLD IT! "Phoenix Wright: The Musical" has been updated to "Turnabout: An Ace Attorney Musical"?! I didn't think the project was still going on, that people still wanted to make an Ace Attorney Musical. This is incredible! I was a member of the first cast back when it started over a decade ago (I was cast as Dustin Prince, the bailiff, and had a few speaking lines + choir parts!) Admittedly, I was added into the cast late when some parts of the project were already done, but I was on the old forums and hoped to see the project fully completed, but unfortunately that never happened. Though I moved on from that project, I eventually learned about the stage production of it, and now this! Hearing the familiar "August Day" opening, chuckling at the cameo from the PWtM Phoenix Wright (Matthew Taranto), and seeing/hearing how the musical has been changed to better flow with pacing and emotion (like how though the Steel Samurai trial is out, "The Samurai Always Wins" is used in "Redd White Adeiu", how some characters are introduced in different roles in the 1st Act so new ones aren't needed in the 2nd). Essentially, the musical is a bit more serious in tone with some lightheartedness versus the original's mix of silly and serious. I think I prefer this newer version, it's really well done! Great work to all involved in this project, it was a joy to see and hear this!

Dang it, I just realized that The Samurai Always Wins was reworked for Red White Adieu. It makes me very happy admittedly, that and The Way Things Were were always my favorite Turnabout Samurai songs and manged to make it in. I haven't seen anyone mentino this, but Lotta Hart's voice is perfect in this, her actress did a fantastic job. There's so many good edits in this. I'll avoid any spoilers for part 2 when discussing why a lot of these flowed so well, but the overall tone change worked much better than expected. It's especially impressive how trimmed down the trial is, and the merging of several minor characters and expansion of other roles means only one new character is in all of the second act. Who, could probably also be played by Grossberg's actor in a case of doubling... Redd White in particular feels more intimidating here with how openly we see him actually flaunt his power, and how the echoes over act II. And in inverse, MVK's shadow is now felt more strongly over Act I as well. Anyways, I think this was a fantastic revision of the musical (though I'll still rewatch the 2017 performance too), in terms of both accessibility and cohesive narrative.

Everyone else in the comments has already sung so much praise for the voices/characters/extra development, so I’ll keep my love for all that brief and just say: everything about this was great, thanks for all the dedication to this project! The thing that really got me the most about this though (which might be a little odd) is the slight changes to the legal procedures compared to the game. I’ve never really had any problems with the game’s legal shenanigans cause I’m no lawyer and can suspend my disbelief for a game, but there was something just so satisfying about having the attorneys be notified of evidence before the trial, the character standing with Phoenix being referred to as the co-council, having Phoenix officially onboard Maya, etc. I was especially in awe of Edgeworth going to the detention center to discuss a plea-deal with Phoenix and the way he went about it as the “demon prosecutor” he is, and it made me think about how something equivalent to that probably must of happened off screen in game, even if Edgeworth wasn’t the one doing it himself. There’s just all these great little details that really build the world around them. I’m a long time Ace Attorney fan and I’ve actually watched Turnabout Musical Live! on KZbin several years ago, and while I don’t too much about it anymore I do remember have fun watching it, so I’m glad that you guys are still working on this! It was a great watch!

Y'all did a better job of making me care about Maya in ten minutes than the whole first two games were able to. Fantastic.

eurgediehfhj I love this musical so much it's SO good both story-wise and musically you have no idea how much I come back to this (and act II ofc. Act II is my fucking favorite it's SO good and I love how TAAAM portrayed Edgeworth's moral conflict with both Decree of The Prosecutor [which is my second favorite song in the whole musical!] and in the entirety of the second act) That aside, I don't think anyone's talked about the line in 4:25? Maybe I'm reaching but is Grossberg talking about the case with Dahlia?

When I saw the title of this video, I expected it to be nothing but cringy. I'm glad to say I was mistaken. There's so much talent behind this, and it shows through in every second of it.

There have now been at least six Ace Attorney musicals- maybe more depending on how you count them.

Turnabout Musical has existed in the fandom since I found out about Ace Attorney back in 2008. At this point it has the same status as the official movie for me. I love the new tracks and the new remixes. Can't wait for Act II.

Redd White Adieu has to be my favorite new track. I always liked that motif Phoenix sings in Samurai Always Wins, and you use it quite well (especially how it bounces between Phoenix, Maya and Mia!) Fantastic work, and I eagerly await the next act and the heaping dose of Edgeworth and Von Karma it will bring!
