I've never felt that I 'got' Turner - fellow seems to have been the supreme expert in painting gently-lit fog - but how marvellous to see how bright watercolours over a century old can be, and what clever foresight to create a tradition for the public of looking at them in January for the sake of their preservation! It is right to be proud of them, and since my chances of getting to either city this month are slim, I thank all the curators for this glimpse of the pictures and their commitment to showing the foggy and delicate works to a maximum of people.
