how long did it take for Glowforge to cut everything

Do you use the pass-through feature very often? Also, I really enjoyed you showing the entire process in this video!

I actually haven’t tried it yet but I will record the process when I do!!

Have you got a tutorial for the same process but with cut and engrave in the same image? I can't work out how too do it and your videos have been the only help for procreate to laser cutter! x

Yes, check out my Inkscape videos. Basically just pick a stroke color for cut, and a different fill color for engrave parts. Once you upload to the glowforge you can assign each color a function. Fills default to engrave. Should be the same concept for whatever design program you use

Thanks for the video! Have you tried exporting as a PDF? Just curious if that would work.

Yes, some lasers can read PDFs too. It just depends on your end goal. For my laser, the preferred format for cutting is a vector file! Glowforge will only engrave if it isn’t a vector

Can I ask what brush do you use on procreate when you draw?

Monoline brush ☺️

You turned off the fill and changed it to a stroke in order for the laser to cut out the image. I’ve been having an issue where the glowforge is doing a double cut or score and can’t seem to fix it without changing my view to outline and deleting the extra lines. This is a long process that I wish I didn’t need to do. I can see that you didn’t need to do this step. Am i missing anything?

When you are vectoring, are there white spaces you aren’t deleting? It’s possible each shape is being vectored twice and you aren’t seeing it. I usually vector in black & white and will select one white shape and do select > same appearance or same fill and it will pick all the items with that color, then you can delete them out. Hope that helps!!

@@SamanthasDoodles I’m designing in procreate and no matter how simple my design I end up with a double line. For instance I mare a Christmas ornament and it made a double cut on the circle. I’m saving the files from procreate as png and with the background turned off so there isn’t any white in my image at all. All the blank space should be transparent. Could it be the brushes I’m using or does that have nothing to do with the final product?

@@sirsmalls4565 oh now I understand what you mean. Procreate is a raster program so you can’t have a true single line design from it without extra steps. When vectoring it’s always going to outline your drawing giving you both sides of the line. I recommend illustrator for iPad for vector drawing for single line designs
