very well explained thanks for sharing, i always seem to learn something new from your videos. the tool rest way above center to clear the bed of the lathe was a keeper.

Wonderful video... Love your teaching style. Appreciate seeing the close-ups so we can see the position of the tool rest to the work and exactly what the bevel of the tool is doing. Thank you for the excellent videos and sharing your knowledge with us.

John...This is a great video that I've watched four or five times. I'm trying to improve my over-all beading but I do all my work on bowls. Question: Will the skew in conjunction with the spindle gouge method work on the outside of bowls? Essentially, I'm trying to figure out a way to create beads that doesn't involve a scraping tool. I have the Sorby beading tools but I think I've been using them at too much of a right angle. I see you using the 3-point tool and I must admit I've been stymied at what purpose those serve...you say in video that you would use the 3-point tool technique for the outside of bowls. You don't get tear-out with that? Any help you can provide would be great.

Sorry, one other question...the spindle gouge you use, is that a fingernail grind? Again thanks...
