What makes this better, is that you can add Timeless And Classics, and to fit the pirate type of game, you can add Chocolateman's guns which adds stuff like old school guns such as the musket (which takes a long time to reload btw) This is for maximum rule over the Seven Seas, but tbh, I just said this to upgrade the animation of guns

You gotta remake this video keeping the same mods but adding Physics Mod Pro for Ocean waves! It's like a must have for this kind of pack. If you're on forge, you probably want some weather events too so I'd recommend Weather, Storms, and Tornadoes on 1.20.1 Forge w/ or Biome Particle Weather on either fabric or forge. Deeper Oceans mod will also increase the depths of the oceans to trench levels lol, and scuba gear is a great immersive mod for underwater exploration.

Holy, crap, the ocean generation in combination with the Distant Horizons mod and the Iris shader already improves Minecraft tenfold! Something as simple as your view distance no longer being limited by whether or not you want to murder your GPU makes this game world much more enticing to explore. As a Super Mario fan, I can assure that the use of the Super Mario Odyssey theme was completely justified.

If it wasn't so performance heavy I'd highly recommend the Pro version of the Physics mod. The Ocean Wave physics it adds are compatible with Eureka Ships.

In terms of your performance: shaders can be intensive, and Valkyrien Skies is in beta still, and has multiple bugs relating to memory leaks and frame drops. (I still think it's worth it though)

I would just use guard villagers instead of mca. Theres a compatibility mod that allows them to use guns from some mods so you can actually have a crew that uses muskets, flintlocks, etc. They also have options for different behaviors, so if you want to raid a pirate ship they will butcher anything on board, but if you want them to stand guard at an outpost or something you can do that aswell

Honestly yeah, I feel like their customizability would serve the modpack better. I just like MCA a bit better because of the personality the different npcs provide, and the fact that theyre a lot easier to hire.
