My son Kyle was killed in a car crash when he was 3 years old. In this vlog I share some very important car seat safety info about the mistake I made that cost him his life, the importance of 5-point harness car seats, extended rear facing and booster seat safety. This information could have saved Kyle's life. My goal is to try and educate parents so no more children die simply because their parents weren't informed. We decided to turn Bella back to rear facing at 3 1/2 years old and everyone got new car seats! Nuna Rava & Nuna Aace Unboxing, Installation & Review!

I’ve had my 3 1/2 yr old in a booster seat and because of YOU I went and bought her a 5 point harness car seat that goes up to 50 pds.(She is 37 pds) Thank You... I truly didn’t know how I was putting my child’s life at risk.❤️

You should try the maxi cosi pria 85 because it goes up to 85 pounds in the harness I wished there was car seats that go up to 50 pounds rear facing and up until 85 or 90 pounds forward facing in the same exact seat

When I first came across this video, I didn't yet have my little girl (whom I was desperately praying for 🙏). She's now 2-1/2 years old, & as much as I want for her to be able to enjoy the car rides more & it be a little easier for me as a single mom to have her front wards facing, I will keep her Rear facing not only for her safety but also in honor of you're sweet little angle child. Know that his life left a legacy & WILL & HAS SAVED LIVES 💞!!! Thank you for sharing you're story 🙏✝️❤ GB.

I LOVE that you are trying to help educate parents about how to properly install and use the car seats to protect their children. Awesome way to turn a tragic part of your family journey into a platform to protect others. I have never liked booster seats, I always insisted on five point harnesses. Thank you for sharing your family experience and educating others. 😉

Thank you so much ... I was about to change by 2 year old to forward facing ..but this video changed my perspective ... I will buy a convertible car seat with maximum rear facing weight capacity...so that I can keep my child in rear facing position as long as possible... god bless your family ... you are saving many kids like Kyle with your vlog ...

Thank you so much for your effort to educate parents on car seat safety. We just purchased the Rava for our son (16 months old)...and we had every intention of installing it forward facing. Caleb (love the name!) absolutely hates being strapped into the car seat, and we were thinking he would have a better experience in the car, and we wouldn't have to listen to screaming all the time, if he was facing forward and could see us and see out the window more. He is about 30 pounds now. Your video popped up when i was looking for install tutorials, and I am so grateful to you and your family! I cannot imagine losing him. We are now committed to keeping him and all of our future children in the safest seat and position in the car for as long as possible.

Thank you for putting a spotlight on the importance on rear facing seating. I am here because my 15 mo daughter's legs are slightly cramped in the Nuna Rava rear facing and I was looking for installation guidance to maybe give her a little more leg room (she's not even 30" yet). But after watching your video and hearing your story - crying, yes, I am expecting another LO in 4 weeks and just can't imagine how hard your son's death must have been on you and your family. Prayers to you mama and sending you so much love and respect for doing a good thing for the community through awareness and education. I feel moved and determined to keep my children in the rear facing position until they are 50lbs.

Wonderful video! Such good information, I hope a lot of new parents to be, see this video to understand the importance of car seat safety. Like you, I also recently switched my 3 1/2 year old back to rear facing. I was scared when I realized that she still wasn’t ready for forward facing, I quickly rear faced her convertible car seat. First video I see from you guys and completely shocked me and saddened me that you guys had actually lost your son to this mistake. You guys are awesome to grow strong and share the knowledge you had to learn the toughest way. Amazing. God bless.

Thank you so much for this information. I have a 2 month old and only k we about rear facing until the age of 2. My 6 year old only rear faced until the age of 1 because I bought the wrong carseat and it said she can forward face according to her weight/height. Thank God she's still with us today but I'm going to make sure my little one stays rear facing as long as possible. My 6yr old is still in a back booster seat.

When you install the Rava you need to tighten the belt that's in through the path inside the seat by pulling up on it and wiggling the seat before you close the tension door. But I guess since he’s a CPS tech that the car seat can move more than I thought and still be considered secure. This is good to know

Thank you for making these videos! I am wondering why the seat is moving so much after install? I was able to get a much tighter fit by tightening the seatbelt first in the path by placing weight on the seat, wiggling it downwards a bit, while pulling on the shoulder belt - before closing the tension doors. Hope that helps someone. Also, I believe the head should be slightly below top of head rest. Thank you for showing proper chest clip levels at the armpit. So often placed much too low.

Very informative video! I stumbled across your video researching carseats for my soon to be 4-year-old son who is just over 30 lbs. I've seen these "combination seats" just as the Chicco MyFit or Britax Frontier that keep the child in a harness before you can later switch it to booster mode. What are your thoughts of these style of seat?

How do you feel about the calf extenders? Does it feel as secure when the extender is out? I was between this seat and a Peg Perego convertible but I'm leaning more towards this seat. It looks more comfortable and has 5 more lbs for RF. My daughter is 5 months and 20lbs so I think I need the biggest weight limit at this point! 😂

I just wanted to mention that with the first Rava your husband is checking for movement in the wrong spot. You only check for movement at the belt path and side to side. It has to move less than 1 inch. You don't check at the top and that will always lift up at least a bit. It's called cocooning and will protect the child in an accident.
@Janedoe-ns8vd
@Janedoe-ns8vd 7 жыл бұрын
Actually, if you watch the car seat lady install this seat. She says you would "typically check it where the seatbelt path goes for rear facing but they noticed with how very heavy this seat is and due to the way the belt is clamped in the true tension door, that if there is a lot of slack on the other side when checking the seat you may not notice that is actually very loose." She says to check it higher, where the forward facing seatbelt path is.

I do have to wonder what recline you have Bella’s seat on… and in your experience do you find reclining the seat further gives taller kiddos some more room…?? Or do you find it doesn’t really matter… I just got a Rava for the kiddo I take care of! I like it and I do think I would’ve had a different experience if I wasn’t moving my old car seat out and putting the Rava in, but I found it was pretty heavy (which is good cause it’s safe) BUT, I didn’t find the ease of install made up for it because my arms were hurting from carrying it. 😂 I loved how this is just like a britax clicktight in that you snug up the belts, lock the seatbelt and then shut the door. Bam done Easy for my young self Update: I have been let down by this seat’s harness loosening allowance. It doesn’t allow much room at all when loosened so it is nearly impossible to buckle a child in. Harness straps way too short

Those car seats are so nice, I just went with the Graco 4 ever for my 17 month old and Graco Nautilus for my 4 year old with the 5 point harness. I like the headrest for your 9 year old looks very comfortable.

May I ask what made you choose the nuna rava - over a clek (foonf or flo)? we're ready to transfer our 9.5mo old out of his infant seat (nuna pipa) and were pretty much decided on the rava. but consultants at two separate local baby stores said clek was the way to go for safety.

Also, the clek seats are sooo heavy. now the infant clek seat I don’t mind but the fllo I used with a kiddo I babysat for and would pick up from daycare. Getting that or their diono into My Nissan Murano was SO hard. it was way heavy for my liking

Can I ask why in America you only use the car seat strap and not a tether strap that goes to the back of the chair?

Is it safe to have her legs folded up like that? I want to keep my 1 1/2 rear facing for as long as possible but I’m concerned if god forbid an accident happens will her legs be safe like this?

You can cast a broken leg, snapped neck not so much

Doctors have said, “broken leg, cast it, broken neck, casket.” They can fix legs. You don’t risk paralysis or death with leg injuries.

her legs will scrunch up like a cannonball into her body in a crash. Actually studies found more leg injuries in a Ff crash because the legs have more freedom to rise up and twist and contort into stranger positions.

What about adult drivers that can't fit in a seatbelt properly? I'm 23 and 4ft. 11 and 90 pounds. The seat belt is usually digging into my neck and it won't go down any further and I feel like I'm always straining my neck trying to see curbs and corners. I also have juvenile osteoporosis and already have spinal fractures. My bone density is beginning to improve, but I feel like a 3 year old in a booster seat has a higher chance of survival than me. But I can't just not drive or not get in a vehicle, I'm just going to have to hope I never get in an accident

He’s not a very good tech tbh.. he’s not even checking for tightness at the right spot and I’m almost 95% sure this car seat has clicktight feature so you shouldn’t be locking the seatbelt you should be using the build in lock off feature the car seat has.
