@@AlexDenhamish yeah the idea behind it, was to show in real time just how much Toby progressed. It was all filmed on consecutive days. So how it's released and the time frames are all how its happened (well it didn't all happen at 8.30 each evening, but you get the idea 😂)

9:16 In that direction, reversos are autolocking so I'd say you can let go of it, but if you put the rope in the wrong way up, it won't autolock. So just to be safe check it autolocks by pulling the climber rope and you could keep a hand on the belay rope XD

As someone wanting to get into trad climbing I loved this video! Really great to see a beginner learning the ropes for the first time, especially with Toby's enthusiasm and Pete's expertise and the banter between the two. Loved this video, brought back memories of starting in the 70s, swinging leads on the first climbs with five nuts and five slings :) Interesting to see such an athlete, who can obviously boulder at a high level, dealing with trees, bad rock, exposure and stuck gear.

After playing with some string, I think the knot at 2:44 is the 9_3 prime knot (in Alexander-Briggs notation). DT code: 8 12 14 16 18 2 4 6 10. Mathematically speaking the ends would have to be attached to be a real knot. Cool find!
