In the Bible, it speaks that those who come accept Christ will be made new. If a thing is made new, essentially it would have a new name. Ex- Abram became Abraham. Sarai- Sarah. Jacob-Israel. Saul- Paul. Jesus renamed a lot of people in the Bible, showing He saw them their purpose in life. When He said the world will hate you, He meant that we will belong to Him, and the world will hate us the same way they hated Him for calling Himself Savior, etc.
