Hi Andy. This is very interesting how straight boards can create spinned design 😵😀👍 and the second great thing is that that cut offs will create another rolling pin. Great work, I love it 👌 All the best my friend 👍 Rav

That is a real pretty, one of a kind rolling pin, Andy! Great choice of wood scraps to take advantage of the color differences. Looks like you worked out your off-cut piece, too, so you're ready to make a second one. Great tip on using the flat board for sanding, I doubt I would have thought of that. Great job, buddy! Phil

Just after I had finished filming Ivy.. I was sat on the bench with my legs up on the bench... Ivy ran into the flower bed and a blackbird flew out and landed on my leg... it stayed there for a few seconds until Ivy came out of the flower bed... it must have seen Ivy because it flew up and landed on my head... then as Ivy approached the blackbird pooped down the side of my head and onto my t shirt... then flew off ... I know it's supposed to be lucky but it didn't feel like it at the time... Haha Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy

Really great looking rolling pin! I was literally shouting at the tablet saying just use the other sides of the "scrap pieces" but you got there in the end! One small point though, being a bit pedantic, mineral oil is a by product of the petroleum industry isn't it? Is that "natural"? Food safe for sure....although....well we all know what happens if you drink the stuff! ...lol... Cheers, Dave

It's beautiful! Unfortunately a 65mm handle is too short even for a person like me with a very small hand. When rolling dough with a roller that has stationary handles you use your whole hand. From your fingers all the way through to bottom of your palm. 4 inches, or shaped like a French pin. But it's beautiful.

Ooooh, very fancy rolling pin, Andy, will you pass me the dough please, I want to try it out 🙏🏻😃 This rolling pin is much too beautiful to be hidden away in a kitchen cupboard! It must be seen and admired! Great idea to make two out of one glue-up… Once again you give proof of your great eye… Both ends practically the same in shape and pattern 👏🏻 If I was fortunate enough to pick one from your range 🤔 I think I would pick one with the wider strip of oak… I do love the look and feel of oak… and it looks great as sort of a base for the other colours… The average Swiss rolling pin has handles for a firm grip, and the rolling pin revolves around a central metal bar, I believe… This is great for doughs that must be rolled out really thin, like for any kind of strudel, for example, one has to apply a lot of pressure in the movement… Then again, in many countries, the rolling pin is just an evenly round piece of wood without any handle type of thing… Makes me think… It could also be used as a baseball bat for a game in that absolutely gorgeous garden of yours... I think Ivy is waiting for the game to start sitting on the bench there with you, veeeery sweet… 😊 or she may be hoping for a little treat out of your pocket 😉😂 I think I have to watch your workshop video again… I do not recall having seen that super fancy table saw before 🙄 I’m getting old… but really great workshop you have there, Andy 👍🏻😊 I wish you a relaxing weekend with hopefully lots of sunshine and plenty of workshop time 😎☀️ Be careful with all these fancy machines, Andy 🙏🏻 Take care, so long 👋🏻👋🏻 Jude
@AndysCornishCreations

Hi Jude... I'm glad that you liked the rolling pin... I'm pleased with the way it turned out... I don't like to waste wood so to be able to get another one from the glue up is great... I totally agree about the Oak being a good base to show off some of the other woods... There are many different types of rolling pin ... we have one on the metal bar but the old plain simple Beach rolling pin always gets used... I did throw Ivy a little treat onto the grass which is what she was looking for... After the filming of Ivy.. I was sat on the bench with my feet up and Ivy saw something in the flower bed... She dived in and a female Blackbird flew out and landed on my leg... I think that it was too scared of Ivy to realise what I was... then Ivy came towards me and the bird jumped up onto my head just for a couple of seconds then decided to take off but not before pooping right down my head and t shirt... Haha.. I wish I had caught it on camera... I don't think that I showed that side of my workshop on my tour... I will take care thank you... We have been away for 4 days visiting our daughter, son in law and 3 month old grandson Rex... I spent the long weekend landscaping their front garden... hot and tiring work but well worth the effort... I hope that you had a more relaxed weekend Take care...All the best.....Andy 👋👋😊

@@AndysCornishCreations I wish you had caught it on camera, too, Andy, ha ha ha 😂 Ivy is shaking things up… I say… those female blackbirds have a way of sitting about under bushes and in flower beds… but the pooping part takes the cake… or as we say in German, shoots the bird down 🤪😂 Very funny, ha ha 😂😝 Happened to me once when walking in the streets of Salamanca in Spain… There was a lady walking next to me who joyously exclaimed “trae suerte” meaning it brings luck 🙄😬😂 Superstitious lot the Spanish… Well, unlike you I had a very lazy weekend… Just planted some beautiful orange Crocosmia Venus and then had to put the wrist brace back on because I had fallen over my own feet a fortnight ago and hurt my right wrist 😬🙄 Anyway, your daughter is so lucky to have such a great Dad, I say! Digging up a whole garden in four days after all the hard work you do during the week, WOW Andy 👏🏻🤪 And congratulations on your little grandson 😃🎈🥳🥂I am sure you must all be overjoyed with the little fellow 😊 I hope you had some time left to pamper him a bit… My oldest sister has three little grandsons now… 2 1/2 years, 7 months and 4 months old… They usually come here on Monday… They keep us on our feet, but we love them to bits, needless to say… 😊 Well, I hope you have recovered from all the hard work and are enjoying some good weather in Cornwall 🤞🏻Here we are having quite steady rainfall right now, but surprisingly still rather mild temperatures… So I will say bye for now…Take care, Andy, stay safe🙏🏻 So long, cheerio 👋🏻👋🏻 Jude

Hi Jude... Yes ... bird poop is supposed to be good luck in this country too... although it didn't feel lucky at the time... I'm sorry to hear about your wrist... it's an automatic reaction to put your hands out but unfortunately your wrists take all the weight... like everything as we get a little older... the healing process takes a lot longer than when we were younger... We have some Crocosmia Lucifer in our garden... Crimson red... Venus sounds nice... is it like our Montbretia... It was a busy long weekend but it was good to get it tidied up... they are not gardeners... so I made it very low maintenance... Yes Rex is a cutesli... Haha Does that make you their great Aunt... I do love to have children around but these days it's nice to know that they will be going home with their parents and I can relax and enjoy the quiet... is that bad ... I'm not sure... Haha We are enjoying a bit of good weather at the moment... shame about your rain but at least it will water in your new plants... Have a good rest of week ... its nearly weekend again... Look after that wrist Jude... Take care...All the best.....Andy 👋👋

@@AndysCornishCreations Hi Andy… Yeees… Bird poop on the head, the luck aspect put aside, basically just stinks 🤪 You are quite right, it does take longer to heal as we get older… I always fall onto my right wrist, it seems… not the first time… My nephew who is a therapist (osteopath) has taken a look at it and says it will be fine, just a bad blow which will take some time to heal… It is the root of the thumb that hurts the most… I have trouble twisting the wrist and squeezing… It is getting a little bit better every day though… Yes, we call it Montbretia, quite a lovely orange colour, varying shades… I have combined it with a mix of purple and green grasses and it looks lovely… The rain is perfect to water everything in, you’re quite right… Yes great aunt is right, but Riaan right now just calls me Doodeet (as my name Judith in Swiss German is pronounced Yoo’deet, long second syllable unlike German). Little Louis (named after my late Dad) and Nael are still quite easy maintenance, but I am usually glad when I have restored the normal state of affairs again once they have left… Next week Riaan will probably sleep over for one night, meaning I will probably not get much sleep 🤪😂 So I am getting what you are saying, ha ha… I am there with you 👍🏻😬 Enjoy the lovely weather, Andy, and hopefully you will get some well deserved rest this weekend 🙏🏻😊 Nearly there 😎 Take care, sleep tight 😊👋🏻👋🏻 Jude

Hi Larry... Thank you... All points taken on board... it was a bit wordy at the start but if anyone wants to make one they need to know how... I did start sawing at the 6 min mark... Just watched your latest video and you started work on the 5.5 min mark ... surprising eh... Haha Take care...All the best.....Andy
