I have a question that why do atoms of elements contain neutrons if they can exist without them. For ex- Ordinary hydrogem atom
@TheActionLab4 жыл бұрын
They need the neutrons in order to keep the nucleus together. If protons get too close they will fly apart because they are all positively charged. But the neutrons help space out the protons and don't let them get too close. And since protons and neutrons both are attracted to each other it helps hold the nucleus together without letting the electric force of the protons push them apart.

The joke doesn't work, they believe the surface is flat, but there's still a thickness, as fully observed by the ground having depth. As daft as flat earthers are, it's even more daft to believe anyone thinks that we live on a 2D surface with no thickness in the third dimension. Even the thinnest of materials have a thickness to them, 1D and 2D are only theoretical concepts and components of our 3D existence.

On the topic of map projections, 1:55, take a look at the Dymaxion Projection. It keeps proportions and scale roughly accurate by sacrificing location. it cuts the earth along bodies of water to unfold it into a flat plane
@swamihuman93954 жыл бұрын
Great video. Great explanation. The STEREOGRAPHIC PROJECTION SPHERE (SPS) is fascinating. As a math teacher, I use it often: students connect with it intuitively, then the underlying math can follow. What is YOUR target audience? Age range? Cognitive level? I ask, because I have a critical comment regarding terminology. So, feel free to take or leave the following... At [1:22] you say, "Now, why would we ever need to take a 3D object like this to map it onto a 2D object?... Remember, that we live on a 3D object like this [Earth], so it's a 3D sphere, and..." Technically, a sphere is actually just a 2D object: it is a surface, with no inside. Mathematically, a SPHERE plus the inside is a "BALL". The tricky, technical part about a SPHERE is that it is a 2D object which is often EMBEDDED in a 3D SPACE. So, a SPS regards a MAPPING from one 2D object (a SPHERE) to another 2D object (a PLANE). Imagine if you also had to map all the points inside the sphere! (Technically though, as 3D printed, the SPS is actually 3D.) On a related side note, a CIRCLE (a LINE SEGMENT wrapped around) is a 1d object often embedded in a 2D SPACE (a PLANE). If the inside is included, it's called a "DISK". So, loosely, colloquially, we say "SPHERE" (or "CIRCLE") when mathematically it's a "BALL" (or "DISK"). OK, teacher mode off :D OK, again, great job. Keep it coming!:)... P.S. I love the Action Labs! Well done.

Hello, Action Lab. There's something I'd like to see done with the vacuum chamber perhaps in a future upcoming video. Please forgive me if this has already been done on this channel - but how about raising the vacuum chamber that's pulling full vacuum with a straw attached to the base that feeds into a bucket of water below. One can then measure the height that the water column rises in the straw. The vacuum chamber will "suck" the liquid up the straw, but of course, its merely the atmospheric pressure pushing down on the liquid surface in the bucket and the pressure difference forces the water up the straw. Anyways, keep bringing us great content, man! Thumbs up from me!

For example, 2cm diameter of the ball, 30W of the light source, casting shadow on all the walls of a 30m^2 room, then what clarity can I expect? Of course, I can try it by myself and I will. But, any comment, known limitations, or theory? Thank you!
