Turning The Female Knot - woodturning

woodturning :For this video, i took a black maple knot ( i think is black maple....) and pre turned it before casting it in Epoxy. I finish the piece with countertop epoxy but things went not exactly like what i was expecting. The final coat have somme bubbles in it arghhhh😡 but in general, the piece looks great. The "ghost" series od black diamond pigment work with black, when you add some black to the other colour, the other colour become more visible

What did you use to turn your bowl that slow while the epoxy dried? My lathe can't go down that slow and I've been trying to figure out something to use. Nice video like usual and thanks in advance

Its call a synchronous motor or something like that other call it microwave motor lol i bought it on amazon. it's a little motor that go 2.5 to 3 rpm, you just have to built the frame.

I watch you guys put stuff in those pressure pots all the time but never has anyone said how long it stays in for , in the video it looks like maybe a few minutes ? Might you be able to answer my question , Thank you and I lov the work you do T. Green

Thanks timothy, the time we left thoses pieces in the pressure pot depend of the resin, if a take a 72 hours cure i will let the piece 48h because even if the epoxy is not cure, is not liquid anymore so no more chances to get bubbles
