Odd one, but around the 2 minute mark you mentioned chopping off a piece of a critter and letting the remainder live. We actually do that in some cases - Adam Ragusa on youtube did a video regarding this topic. In that video he was talking about how a certain kinda crab is only harvested for their claws, so they haul the crabs and then pluck a claw if its above a certain size. They only pluck one claw and then release the crab back into the sea. The crabs do (sometimes) survive this, think it was ultimately like a roughly 50% chance. The claws regrow, and do not lose a significant amount of hemolymph due to a release socket that closes automatically to prevent bleeding. So if the crab survives the initial few days without its claw, it will likely live to regrow its claw and carry on. Still pretty horrific, but I guess a 50% survival chance is better than a 0%...
