Why is this game not in widescreen when the previous game was?

it was a decision we made to better the design of the game. We noticed with top-down shooters, if the game is widescreen, people will focus on enemies on the left and right because they see more, when there could be the same amount of enemies above and below. This leads to players getting overwhelmed and dying. the 4:3 aspect ratio helps combat this by limiting the information seen on all sides.
