The undynamic, lifeless nature of the sound does not come from the cable but the passive pre-amp.

I have to agree with you I love the sound of tubes in my headphone Amp the energy and full body you describe. tubes are must when powering my headphones the sennheiser hd650. looking forward to upgrading my headphone rig at the end of this month, a power conditioning strip, USB power supply for my dac and some silver RCA Cables.

I'd love to see the final product in the system! It's always a pleasure to watch the videos, but seeing the components on the bench is only part of the equation. Would love to see them in action!

Another nice video Tudor! I am intrigued by the X-10D and I had thought about doing something similar with my CD player. iFi has a buffer stage which operates of the same principle.

Liking your Nu Vista Amp and pre-amp set up.... Question though, where do you connect the speakers? It looks like a lovely sleek modern set-up which I could see myself saving for.... Oh, got the Denon amp, not impressed by the bass output, looks like its a temp till I get my Sansui fixed. Then resell the Denon.

I looked up a Tube Buffer on redtube and got a much different video. I wonder if YOU could make a better passive preamp with your cable than what you bought; I know you can solder, have you ever tried or considered? I bet you could!

Patting the piglets! :P That six pak isn't as cool looking indeed, but the little cone feet are always cool and flashy :D :P I don't have a lot to say about what it all does, but it's always good to bring those piglets out... hahah... really, I think I understood... warmer sound is always better! my marantz delivers on the warm sound :)

Educational as always, Tudor - thank you! Let me ask, you mentioned switching to your 'winter' rig. Dor you having seasonal rigs due to the fact that you prefer valve gear but it gets too hot during the summer? I don't have any personal experience with that type of gear. Yet. Cheers! Tom
@highrantdistrict9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info, Tudor. Now I don't know if I want to poison my current systems by trying some valve gear. ;-)

Hello Richard, I'm doing fine thanks, my main computer is down, hence the lack of videos. I plan to start making some again in the Winter. I hope that you are doing well on your side of the pond, Cheers Tudor

What does a tube buffer do? And can you put it before the main amp so It'll work on cd, cassette, turntable, everything?
@tuturtle7 жыл бұрын
Hello, you put the tube buffer between your source component (i.e CD Player, Cassette deck, Turntable phono stage etc) and your amp, so yes it works with everything. It adds that "tube" (i.e. warm) sound and makes the sound beefier, not louder but more powerful, more slam etc. Ideal for thin, weak, cold sounding source components. I hope that helps, Cheers Tudor
@audunjemtland82877 жыл бұрын
It does. Thanks. But sounds like you need one in between every source. I have cassette, cd and turntable. Would then mean I would need 3 tube buffers.
@tuturtle7 жыл бұрын
unfortunately yes! You could try one and see if it's worth it.
@audunjemtland82877 жыл бұрын
I'm a noob so don't get why that couldn't be AFTER the amp, before the speakers, so all sources would be included with only 1.
@tuturtle7 жыл бұрын
It's a "line level" device. i.e. it connects with interconnect cables. It cannot drive speakers!!! If you want to drive speaker with tubes, you need to buy a tube amp!

No, you cannot. The X10D works on line level.

I would beg to differ sir , im a producer and i have some basic knowledge on electronics , it can be Emulated or EQed if you like , ask Guitar Players , they use Tube guitar Amps , still , they record on Guitar Rig and that is Emulator , , does the same thin as tubes , so yes you can . Yes you can not Emulate Output power Tubes , but if you use just Tube Preamp that is not a tube output , thats tube input , . You dont get lower noise with quality cables , but lower distortion , lower noise floor comes from Balanced cables , but again cables are not balanced its the connection that is balanced , cable is just that , a cable . So a lot of misconceptions here , i get it not everyone is so smart as i am :) And i dont have a YT chanell but if i did , it would be one of the smartest chanels araound . What is the thing with tubes you ask . Well let me tell you sir , tubes add distorting , and not just Any distorting , its Musical distortion, so it sounds nice , its still distortion so who is after perfect sound then its no to tubes but wahtever ,ppl like what they like , i cant say , i listen to old music that has tube's , its teh stuff i like , and i like it loud . But i dont have a tube output power , maybe i will get this tube input
