I'm up in Cape Cod with my wife's family and snuck out for an early breakfast with Keith Fenner! He gave us a quick tour of the TurnWright Machine Works HQ!

I love how you KZbin machinists have started coming together. Keith was the first one I ever started watching and I consider him the king. It was really different getting to see his yard and garden...a glimpse into the personal side that we don't normally have. Keep up the great videos John!

John, we love the shop tour, garden and chicken coup videos. Replayed the section with the chickens for my wife to see and she was fascinated about how the coup was designed. Thank you so much for bringing another aspect of Keith's wonderful world of work and lifestyle for us to see. Best regards, Paul

Just sittin here smilin. John & Keith were the first two KZbin Machine Guys I came across followed very shortly thereafter, probably the next day, by Adam Booth. Great to see them visiting with great friendship and in constant promotion of the trade. Bravo Guys.

Wow, was that FUN! The length and breadth of Mr. Fenner's talents and energies never cease to amaze me! His home and grounds are beautiful as are his abilities with livestock and agriculture. One definition of Heaven for me would be being next door neighbors with Keith Fenner and Lyle Peterson and a vacation home in Newfoundland near specialty Repairs and the Short family, it just could not be better than that! Thank you for another glimpse into a wonderful world!

Keith is so real and a "Get er Done" kind of guy. I love it when Keith shares with us the names of his chickens. Loves them birds! Guys like this make America great right now! John and Keith together, what a treat. I enjoyed every minute of it. Two of my favorite KZbin guys. I thank you guys for putting your lives out there (something I just cant do easily) Thanks for teaching us all something along life's journey. Thanks from my heart.

Interesting video John. Like many of us, I have viewed many a video from Keith including some on his chickens, but I didnt realise just how small his shop was and how large his backyard is. Just glad I dont have to mow that lawn. Keith is living the life, in a unique and lovely part of the world, with his work and family close by. Lucky man.

Both you guys, and the whole scene you're into is just priceless. So much engagement, taking life like a pizza eating contest. There is editing and something formal in the usual technical videos, necessary of course, but to see all this enjoyment and attitude is just terrific. I try to miss nothing you produce - so valuable, slowly it'll get in my head and hands. THANKS

Thanks John, and that was a good demo on how your new hand held camera mount works. Now audio wind socks LOL only thing I noticed was the wind. the radio was low enough which was a blessing, because I like off the cuff, and do overs, or planing, never come out the same. ;{)------

Its great to get a continous shot of your shop. Its both bigger and smaller than I thought it was. From your videos I thought the big lathe and your welding/grinding areas were directly adjacent and that was the entire shop. I had no idea where the xcarve was, nor did I realize you had desk in the shop. The whole area around the smaller lathes and the shaper didn't exist in my mind. On that note, Keith you really need to do some videos on the shaper. I'd love to hear your take on how to set it up and use it.

Keith is awesome. His was the first channel that I watched for metal working, and really sparked my interest so many years ago. I can remember binge watching watching every single video, while scouring the web for a lathe. He is a true master at his profession, and like many masters they are pretty dang good at a bunch of other stuff as well.

Thank u John. Thank u Keith. Love your videos of other shops. Keith and Brians shops. People see clutter and mess. I see true busy machinists. Any machinist can crank out parts. A true machinist can figure out repairs in an outstanding way that most can not see. The importance on getter done not how did my shop look while I did it

Shop tour was great thanks to both of you. I'm working in a small shop now too, and it has some work to be done. I liked Keith's statement about maximizing a machine's capability. The layout of his Bridgeport, K&T, and lathe I think really show how he maximizes the available space.

Woe! What an Awesome place :-) I'm kind-of amazed that he doesn't do any Forge Welding too... lol He sortta reminds me of my late Uncle Angus. The guy could build anything and was good at it all... Uncle Angus was in Rocky Mountain House, AB, Canada and also ran Horse Packing hunting trips, into the mountains. Although I never saw it myself, I was told he was so strong, he could pick up an Anvil by the horn... I think that was just a "Story"... Who knows, they don't grow men like him anymore... Very Special kinds of people... and I doubt if there could be a replacement for Keith, either... Great video. Thanks for sharing :-)

@joshua43214
@joshua43214 8 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the wire wrapped around the dust collection hose? Pretty sure that is just to stiffen the hose, though it might ground it as well. Normally, when you ground ductwork against explosion, the ground wire goes inside the hose. You can just attach the wire to the blower housing since it should be grounded as well.
@thunderslap7390
@thunderslap7390 8 жыл бұрын
joshua43214 Thanks for that, I have researched it in the mean time and I agree with you. Some people put the wire inside and add a wire on the outside as well. My blower is mounted on "plastic" wheels so I drilled a hole through the concrete floor and drove a copper rod through the hole and earthed both wires out that way. Problem solved with Z axis loosing steps when routing heavy dust material like polystyrene. Static discharge would make the Z axis drop to the table destroying the project every time until I earthed the blower out.
@joshua43214
@joshua43214 8 жыл бұрын
China First Wow, that would suck. Grounding it through the 3rd prong on the plug is more than fine, no reason to drill the floor out. If the ground prong on the plug is not doing the job, then you need to fix your shop electrical system, something in the breaker box is wired wrong.
@thunderslap7390

LOL Too late! Jobs done, guys do it Joshua's way, much quicker and cheaper. I probably got sucked in by a clever sparkie who wanted to sell me a $40 copper rod and $80 labour to do the job.

rant The fact that you can't even film and upload something anymore because of this fear of copyright crackdown is really starting to get on my nerves. Luckily now there's motion among content creators to really rip a new one in GoogTube's corporate behind with lawyers and money. It's high time we took KZbin back from channel networks like "fullscreen" who is in fact run by a former Google big wig. Content creators should be allowed to post videos as they wish. Once incorporated in video work, within reason, something should no longer be hunted down like this. They aren't even using humans in the process anymore, it's all bots, faulty coding at that too. So many people have complained about false take downs and channel strikes, abuse, and all manner of really nasty things. Absurd beyond belief what they've done with what was once a very nice ground for creativity and artistic growth. /rant

Well if they are not careful they may very well "kill the chicken that laid the Golden Egg" so to speak. Apologies to the Goose that laid the Golden Egg, but chicken was relative to this video. It is however standard sort of behaviour for any organisation as it grows into something large, the hobby feel is lost and it goes all "Corporate".
